Hi Graeme,
I know you mentioned a while back that you were thinking of adding support for processing the variable frame of the HVX-200 when captured over its uncompressed outputs. Assuming you are able to add this feature, do you think that same fix would work for the 24F or 30F modes of the XL-H1 over HD-SDI. From what I understand Final Cut cannot properly handle footage captured in those modes.
Thanks,

Hi Gunleik,
First of all I want to make it clear that I am not saying anything bad about the Multibridge product line. It has what could be some great features, and I like that it can switched from machine to machine assuming all the machines have an adapter card installed. Of course at this point it is an unproven product, and as with any new product time will tell how much of its promise it fullfills. My post was in response to you saying that both the Extreme and Studio Multibridges were shipping. As I said before I don’t think the Multibridge Studio is shipping yet. You linked to Eric Pratt who posted last week that he got his Multibridge Extreme.

Hi Gunliek,
I don’t think the Multibridge Studio is shipping yet. The Multibridge site only shows the Extreme shipping and sites like B&H show the Studio as coming soon. Do you know of anyone who has received one?

That was pretty good Tony, it sounds like legal advice from the Brother’s Grim. Thanks for the laugh and the warning.

Hi Frank,
I have already contacted them and it looks great so far. You are right about the law being a morass. I guess seems like most copyright law is being used the same way trademark law would normally be used. I am planning on getting some original muppet style puppets made but I think I will need some additional puppets and Puppet Productions seems like they will be a great resource.
Thanks again!

Thanks Leo and Frank,
Frank that is exactly what I am looking for. The ministry focus for the company actually is a great fit because this project is for a Christian non-profit. My confusion about rights was I didn’t understand how puppets are protected. I guess it is the copyright notice for the puppet. I wasn’t trying to take advantage I just wanted to know what kind of restrictions there were for using puppets that were purchased.
Thanks again, that was a great help,

December 20, 2005 at 8:34 pm in reply to: Anyone using HDlink with a 23″ cinema display?Hi Steve,
How does the zoom work? Does it go up to a 1:1 pixel relationship?
Thanks,

Cool,
I know what you mean, I can’t wait until next week. It will be cool to see what you come up with since it will be comparing apples to apples.
Thanks again,

Hi Will,
Were you ever able to add a comparison with DVCPro HD? Would be interesting to see.
Thanks!

Hi Barry,
My main interest is in using DVCPRO HD to finish HD content. For most of my studio captures I am planning on using a Kona LH which offers both analog input for my Sony camera HDV camera and HD-SDI for the XL-H1 or any HD deck I might be using. As you said both of these can captured as uncompressed or DVCPRO HD. It’s amazing what you can do with a $2500 dollar G5!Most of my projects will be finished in SD, and of course I am planning on keeping an HD master for future use. For the projects that I am planning on delivering in HD DVCPRO HD seems to be the tape format used the most by the stations I am working with. I will likely keep an uncompressed master along with the DVCPRO HD.
I am very excited about both the HVX-200 and the XL-H1 although they are very different cameras. I looks like both Panasonic and Canon have raised the bar. I would love the see that double blind comparison you mentioned, and I would like to see uncompressed captures used as well those using the native codecs.
Thanks for your observations,
Gary
