The Blu-ray specification allows for up to 720p resolution for 60 fps, and the maximum frame rate for the highest resolution available, 1080p, is 30 fps.
Not even 30fps. The specification only allows for 24fps at 1080 progressive. 1080i60 is the next highest frame rate.

To be fair, Retina and AppleTV support is dependent on Apple. Do we even know how much of a heads up Adobe got for Retina-display support and does Apple even provide the capability for Adobe to add AppleTV support to Lightroom?

I’m really interested on these ramifications. I don’t think we’ll get the whole story until someone uses it to edit on.
Especially interested in how FCP Classic/Premiere work on that screen.

Frankly, given some of the issues that have been brought up with the Retina-display on a traditional laptop (along with all the 3rd party software that may or may not get updated), I think a non-Retina Mac is the best bet for workflows.
And there’s no shame in saving a few bucks going with referb Macs either. You’re not strictly limited to the brand new items that are purchasable at the moment from Apple’s website.
