“Not entirely sure about copyright issues with images from google earth though.” – Andrew McKee
The broadcasters (ABC, etc.) have cleared permissions and they attribute the images to google – typically a google logo bug.

August 6, 2010 at 10:58 pm in reply to: XDCam SxS filenames changed by AMA/ kills workflowMy work flow involves sending AAF audio files for sweetening. So I don’t any experience with large linked media AAF transfers. Also, I generally don’t work in AMA mode if possible.
The addition of “new” to the file names can be caused by a certain operations. For example decomposing a sequence or sometimes when creating an AAF. In version 4 when you exported an AAF with the media embedded it created new clips with the “new” added to the file name. I don’t know if MC 5 does this as well. It sounds like the work flow your describing doesn’t involve an embedded AAF.

But Dave she wants it to be exactly like flash.
I don’t know flash. If I ever decide to learn flash I’m sure I’ll want it to be exactly like After Effects. Sometimes the hardest part of learning a new app is letting go of the app that you know so well. I struggled with FCP at first until I stopped trying to make it work like an Avid. If Sabina can let go of her death grip on Flash she’ll figure out how to execute her motion path in AE.

We have small simple text on our discs that reads either: DVD video, DVD data, CD audio or CD data. It’s helpful for diagnosing problems when the client says, “I put the shiny thing in my computer and it doesn’t work right”.

There’s an active Deko forum over on the Avid Community.
https://community.avid.com/forums/67.aspxA couple of thoughts:
– Consider coming up with a specific question rather than a broad statement such as “it’s horrible”.
– Try to understand that CG’s are not the same as Photoshop. This is true for Chyron, Avid Deko and VzRT. -
We’re looking for a way to handle digital delivery in house as well. At NAB Digital Rapids showed their C2 delivery software.
https://www.digital-rapids.com/Products/IndividualProducts/C2.aspx
It looked interesting enough, with tracking files that were downloaded or delivered.C2 or some other FTP on steroids. I think these are the types of solutions that are poised for a great deal of growth. IMO, the business model of delivering 30 second HD digital files at $150 – $300 a pop isn’t sustainable. At those prices I can justify adding a server and an application to handle delivery.

I’m saying that audio is the weak point in the chain. You don’t have complete control. If the PA system has a ground loop you’ll have a nice buzz in your audio that will sound a lot louder in post than it did the day you were recording. Again, I’m not saying the audio will be bad. I’m saying there’s a potential for problems with the audio. Give yourself plenty of set up time to troubleshoot problems and you should be fine. Throw a little salt over your shoulder just in case.
A four camera shoot with 2 crew members, that’s definitely a low budget shoot. If your audio is bad tell the client that you get what you pay for.

What should I do to best sync this cameras?
Here’s an article from another site that covers sync:
https://www.dvxuser.com/articles/sync/What should I think of when changing tapes, so I don’t miss out on the action?
This is plain common sense, stagger your tape changes. If the camera connected to the sound mixer need a tape change how should I do to don’t miss out on the sound?
I rarely take a feed from the front of house. Unfortunately sometimes there’s no other alternative. Run a feed from board to 2 of your camera’s for redundancy and run your own clean mic (not a camera mic) to at least one of the cameras for back up. So when a buzz mysteriously appears from the house feed you have something else to fall back on. Hire an sound man to handle the audio. Four cameras are worthless if the audio is bad. Will you have a monitoring position at the back of the room so you can see what all four cameras are shooting?
Will you have an intercom system so you can communicate with the camera operators?
Will you provide additional lighting or will the staging company handle all the lighting?
