That’s a bit confusing Dave. Interlaced and PsF are not the same thing.

[Jeff Strachan] “…two fields partial images of two different instants in time that are separated by 1/60th of a second…”

    This is interlaced.

[Jeff Strachan] “…partial images of the same instant in time but displayed separated by 1/60 sec”

    This is PsF.

You could argue that PsF is interlaced, but you wouldn’t win that argument with an engineer.

“Avid automatically resized it smaller to fit a whole long credit into one frame” – Linh Phan

Avid resizes images to match the project settings when you import the file. Marcus is suggesting using the Pan and Zoom effect which references the original high res file. Read the help on the Pan and Zoom effect and take it for a test drive.

Geez. Just pick one and edit. Posting this sort of broad open ended question in each editing forum is a pointless excercise.

    “random occasional static burst”
Is it random? When you hear a static pop make note of the timecode or a visual cue and roll the tape back and play it again. Does the pop occur in the same exact spot?

Check the audio directly on the deck, isolating each channel and listening for static. If the audio on the deck is clean then swap the audio cables feeding the Nitris DX. If the problem persists you should contact support.

If the audio on the deck contains static, check with the camera man and sound man to track the source of the problem.

It sounds like a problem with field order. What are Avid import settings for field order?
