    The BBC uses Adobe Premiere.

[Craig Seeman] “Of course neither may use FCPX primarily or exclusively”

They may not even use FCPX at all.

[Sean Thomas] “So Apple, one of if not the leaders in computers and software got it wrong and the complainers are right? I don’t think so, doesn’t seem logical.”

For giggles let’s use the tired automotive analogy with your statement.

So Ford, one of the leaders in the automotive industry got it wrong with the Edsel and the complainers are right? I don’t think so, doesn’t seem logical.

From my experience, net 30 is standard practice in the industry.
That’s not to say you can’t do whatever you want to do, it’s your business.

You have 4 Avid towers (A, B, C & D), all of them have dual outputs.
You have 4 rooms (edit 1, edit 2, edit 3 and edit 4).

Do you want the ability to send Avid A (both displays) to any edit room ( 1,2,3 or 4) ?

Do you simply need to to extend the DVI cables from the machine room to the edit rooms; Avid A to edit 1 and Avid B to edit 2, etc. ?

But it sounds like something new. Marketing spin.

[Brent Hurlock] “Have the “rules” changed that your now supposed to mix to 0db?”

It depends on the destination. For compression purposes you should push the levels close to 0db. For laying off to tape you should stay at -14db or -20db depending on how your system has been calibrated.

I usually keep the average near -20db, but not exceeding -10db for masterting to tape. If I need to compress the file in Sorenson, I’ll duplicate the sequence, mixdown the audio and push the levels up near 0db. Alternately you can add gain in Sorenson as mentioned in Boukes post.

[Matt Callac] “If there’s one thing we can all agree on it’s that Chris is wasting his time posting so much. He’s not going to change anyone’s mind about anything. Everyone is right in their own mind.”

I agree that he’s wasting his time. He believes that it’s his mission in life is to correct everyone’s opinions about FCPX. It’s one thing to have a spirited discussion, but trying to beat down every post that is critical of Apple is bordering on an unhealthy obsession.

    Relax Marvin.

As Chris Kenny says (over an over again), this will be fixed when Apple releases their API. Companies from around the globe will rush in and fix all the problems in a matter of weeks.

If you decide to hold your breath waiting for this to happen I would suggest you take a really big breath.
