yes exactly. or make the track your ‘first play’ item in your project so that Simulator will go to it as the, you’ve guessed it, ‘first play’ item on your DVD… and a little DVD will appear on the icon in the graphical view.

yeah I’ve read about the Fig Rig – not sure yet though whether I want to look like I’m pretend driving a truck around whilst filming! I’m sure it’s great though.
not sure what you mean about the OIS – my feeling was that you switch OIS off when on a tripod as it’ll fight the pan or tilt that you’re trying to execute, i.e. a little delay at the start and a bit ‘floaty’ at the end. I’m sure the proper way is to switch OIS off on sticks, and that it’s a hand held aid.

should say that it’s a DVX100AE in case the B has new and improved stabilisation.

it’s very easy if you haven’t found out yet. you just digitise it in as is, you don’t need any ‘advance pull down’ or anything. basically if you’re using squeezed DVX footage, dig it in as anamorphic 16:9 whether 25p/50i/whatever…your NLE should sort it out and you should see it as proper widescreen when digitised.

Wayne, Mark, Jeff, thanks for your quick responses to this. yes, it is DV, and to be honest will probably only be DV for a while. My next question was going to be about multicam editing but Jeff’s already answered that one.

I just have to get another license now for the iMac as obviously it won’t let you edit with the same serial number on a network!

I was a little worried that the switch I bought was not up to the task long term – it’s a Netgear GS608 (8 port Gigabit switch). Seems fine though at the minute.
