    Thanks for the advice Chad.

I’ve set the systems up this way to have internal data redundancy for our system disk and our project file disk, so I don’t need crazy speeds from these drives. We use an external Sonnet RAID set at RAID 5 and connected via eSATA for our media files.

I want to have the the internal drives RAID 1 so that we have an instant backup for all of our non-video media data.

  • What’s up Ned?

I just looked at the HPX300 manual and it looks like it will output a standard def analog signal with TC visible.

Alternatively you could hook up the video out and the time-code out to a Horita TC reader (if you still have it laying around) and run that into your DVD burner.

Then you just set you timer for the total length of your footage and, if it was a long shooting day, have a six pack because you don’t have to change tape every 30 mins.

    Best,

  • I just discovered Raylight MXFX. It seems to be doing exactly what I need.

    Thanks,

We just spent 10 days in Burkina Faso shooting in 100+ degree heat with a Varicam. All hand held documentary stuff. Other than trying to keep the camera in the shade when we were not rolling, we didn’t do anything special. The camera held up great!

Do bring extra padding for your gear though. I brought an 800w Joker HMI along (which I used once) and after a few hundred miles on the awfully bumpy roads, a dozen or more screws had fallen out.

That’s great. Thanks everyone for all of you help.

  • I have since done more research and learned that I haven’t been using the FRC plug-in as designed. AJA’s website gave some good guidance on how get the right settings, however does anyone know why I was haveing some success with the other setup?

With 23.97 DVCPROHD Varicam settings on the FCP easy setups, any clip (shot at 48fps) that I captured converted diretly to slow-motion without running the plug-in. Is this just a Final Cut anomaly?
