    Hi Andreas ….
I’ve read your post and I woul like to have the workflow. I’ve post explaing, probably, the same problem:

” I was trying to use “Media Manager” for the very first time to backup sequences of a project. The whole project is full of multclips since I used 2 and sometimes 3 cameras to record 200 food receipes.
When I try to use Media Manager, it “exports” / copy the final sequences to where I asked for with all multiclips used in the sequence. But, the multiclips exported were no longer on sync.
Does anybody knows why this happens ? ”

Is it the same kind of problem ?

Ok, this adapter comes with MacBook Pro ( link: https://store.apple.com/us/product/M8754G/A?fnode=MTY1NDA3Ng&mco=MjE0ODQzNw ).
How do I set up FCP to do that ? I meant, moving my cursor from my MacBook to the CRT ….

Thanks David and good morning. Looks like we both are those kind of guys that love to work until late in the morning …. I’m in Brazil and here is 5:15 AM.
By the way, that thing you wrote in your website, a Albert Einstein saying, it is something that I also always say ….

    David,
I’ve been reading your posts for a long time and I always take what you write in high consideration.
Thanks for answering me. Let me ask you one thing. Do you think that my “equipments” are good enough for ProRes ? I’m asking it because everything that I’ve been reading, despite the fact that it is my first time working with HDV, looks like the ProRes workflow is more wise, more inteligent and smooth even taking so much hard drive space ….. and moreover, if Apple released it as a solution, they probably did a lot of tests even if they were thinking in selling the new and advanced computers / processors.

  • Dear friends:
I’m having problems capturing video straight from the Sony HDR-HC7 camera into FCP.
Reading the post below from Sally Bartel I could solved the problems on capturing from tape, but only using the DV-NTSC set up as she wrote in the end of the post.

” Re: Deck control for HDR-HC7 Camera doesn’t work in FCPHD!!
by Sally Bartel on Jan 18, 2008 at 7:27:05 pm

I have no problems controlling my HC7 with FCP 6.0.2.

First of all, I prefer to capture in the HDV format. If you let the camera covert to DV, it squeezes and distorts your image to make it fit in a DV screen.

To capture in the HDV mode, use the touch screen on your camera and go to the Standard Set. Find the iLink Conv and set it to OFF. In FCP, go to Easy Set Up and choose HDV1080i60. Set your camera to the PLAY/EDIT mode and you should be able to control it with FCP. You can edit in HDV, then convert to SD in FCP. This will give you a undistorted widescreen image with black lines at the top and bottom.

If you still want to let your camera do the converting, Go to the Standard Set. Set iLink Conv to HDV-DV. Then in FCP, go to Easy Set Up and choose DV-NTSC. ”

But the “big” problem is that I want to capture into FCP and not use tapes.
I’m working with FCS2 only for 2 weeks and I came from FCP HD 4.5, jumping over the FCS1. Back there I used to capture from a VHS-C camera straight into FCP with no problems, using the DV-NTSC set up and a “bridge”, the CANOPUS ADVC 300 digitalizing the footages .
How should I proceed to do the same using this Sony HDR-HC7 and FCS2 ? In both modes, HD and DV-NTSC I only get a black window on “LOG AND CAPTURE” …..

PS.: I’m using a MacBook Pro
    Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed: 2.5 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 2
    L2 Cache: 6 MB
    Memory: 4 GB

Thanks for you answers …. And if you excuse me I have another one for you guys … tomorrow I will have a job in which I will film a person just talking and explaining the features of an equipment that they work with …. I will do it in chroma key. I’ve bought a lapel microphone, rent the lights, set up my little home studio and the client will bring his camera, Sony DCR-DVD405. Searching by the e-manual and e-instructions of the equipment for having no surprises … I couldn’t figure it out if there is or isn’t a “hole” to attach an external microphone (the lapel one). there is a mention about “Active Interface Shoe” to plug in an wireless microphone ??? Do you know if it is possible to plug in a simple external microphone in this AIS thing ?
