So – I uploaded the HD render (as Mike suggested). The only thing I changed in the template was from 29.97 to 30 fps.
So it uploaded fine and was accepted. What I hadn’t realised though is that they process it into a smaller, flash version anyway! It’s in a 4:3 box so has black top and bottom and is 640 pixels wide.
So there you go. Now we know!

Yes John, I do realise. But I’ll be following Mike’s advice meaning that the picture will be 16:9 and a lot larger anyway.
I did a render and it came out to just under a gig – in line with Mike’s mini-test. And it looks fine and sounds fine.
I’ll rename it to ‘.mov’ and upload it tomorrow and let you know if it gets accepted or not.
Cheers everyone. And you in particular John, as without your previous advice on this forum I would have never got this done!

There’s a ‘fill light’ effect in Vegas 9. Does 6 have it too?

Heh heh. That posting-on-here-then-find-the-answer-straight-after trick often works for me too.

I use an i7 and 8gig of ram and run Vegas Pro 9e 64bit. It’s blisteringly fast at rendering, and I work with 1080p media.
But… …don’t ignore the advice re hard drives above… …I made another step-change in speed by adding a solid state drive to my configuration. Interestingly though, unlike the recommendation above, I have Vegas on the SSD and Win7 on the normal disk. The project files and media are on the SSD.

Only thing I can think of is that you have Vegas open? Make sure it’s not open, or better still that it hasn’t been opened at all since a restart. Other than that – no. I can’t see why you’d be having that problem. 🙁

This is a total stab in the dark, but maybe you accidentally copied and pasted the whole track on top of itself, so fading would only reveal the original event underneath, rather than blackness?
If I got this right, tell me so I know to go buy a lottery ticket.

I think you have to do them separately. But it’s very easy. Do one first, and then the other will kind of ‘snap’ to the same point anyway when you make it.
