    Setup:
    Intel Core i7 CPU Q820 @ 1.73Ghz (Sager Laptop)
    vegas Pro 9(e)
    Editing MS avi(2) clips

I’ve done something accidentally where now the file name of the clip I’m editing is overlaid in the Monitor also now when I access the quarter pie fade tool and pull an envelope to fade, it doesn’t fade. The envelope appears with the elongated semi `S’ line as usual, but no fading happen inside it.

I’m not sure both things are even related but they seemed to appear at about the same time… or at least I noticed the phenomena within a minute or so of noticing the file name being overlaid on Monitor view.

I hit an (unknown) key combo accidentally that caused the overlaid filename for sure, but, the non fading fades also seemed to happen then.

I suspect I’ve accidentally invoked some state or setting that Ctrl-v does not undo but no clue what it is or how to undo it.

This is a total stab in the dark, but maybe you accidentally copied and pasted the whole track on top of itself, so fading would only reveal the original event underneath, rather than blackness?

If I got this right, tell me so I know to go buy a lottery ticket.

    Oh well.

So; did you work out what you did?
