    February 10, 2011 at 5:06 pm in reply to: constant razterize shadow problems “again”

    Hi Kevin,

    I’m have AE cs4 9.0.3.8,

    my setup (it’s a pack shot)

    I have seven pre comps each containing layers that make up the packs.

    The seven pre comps are moving from a line to a staggered V formation away from camera and the light is in front so the packs cast shadows on each other as they move behind. the lights and cam are in this comp also when I constantly raz(collapse trans) the lights still do there magic but the shadows disappear. ?

    Hi Dan,

    thanks for your reply,

    I tweaked it because my cntrl layer(the one that will rotate) is in another comp.

    I applied it to the position of the layer I want to move in x but it fails, because of an undefined object.

    any help greatly appreciated

    m = 10; // multiplying factor
    r = Comp("fred").layer("cntrl").transform.rotation;
    value + [m*r,0]

    August 26, 2010 at 4:00 pm in reply to: a text list on a vertical path?

    Thanks again,

    As this was mid Job I just went ahead and did by hand, I was just surprised that it wasn’t possible to control a block of text with a mask vertically.

    it seems so obvious.

    anyway thanks again next time I’ll try that expression 🙂

    cheers

    what effect?

    you can slice the layer
    or animate the opacity
    if its a particle system animate birth rate.

    it depends on what your doing

    cheers

    That’s a bit of a heavy duty work around:)
    If you where going to go the seperate layers route and do it by hand you could just offset the anchor point of each layer and rotate them to get the circle then group with a null to animate.

    Thanks for your reply.

    August 26, 2010 at 1:33 pm in reply to: a text list on a vertical path?

    Ok,

    A is what I want to do
    B is how i thought it should be possible
    C is what happens when you apply the mask as a path. and there does not seem to be a way to effect a list of text using a vertical rather than a horizontal path.

    cheers

    Jim
