In MC6 I can drag the effects in the Effect Editor to reorder them. Also, clicking on the effect doesn’t select them but clicking on a selected effect, selects another (counter intuitive but it works – probably a bug). The delete effect button delete the top effect in the list.

Brilliant! Thank you Michael. You’re right, much better than FCP.

Yes. Funny I emailed him about this yesterday. No response yet. But I think you’re right.

I was tempted (for 10 secs) to code a solution myself but we’ll let Wes take care of it.

I developed Lumiere HD years ago — never again 😉

A new test just brought in audio in AE even though I had specifically chosen just the video.

Sticking with reconnect to H.264 approach.

December 28, 2011 at 7:56 pm in reply to: Boris Transfer AE generates empty composition

I think it was because one clip couldn’t be reconnected and interrupted the code (Comp not made).

I find that using Boris Transfer is very unpredictable when using in conjunction with MXF Import from Calibrate Software so I decided to use it to reconnect to the digital negatives (DSLR H.264 in my case).

Much testing and my verdict is that having MXF Import is nice because it allows playing ProRes MXF in QT and therefore all QT based apps (FCP, AE, etc.) but it isn’t reliable with Boris Transfer.

Boris Transfer works best when reconnecting the clips to your digital negatives (H.264 in my case).

For the life of me, I had it working once and can’t make it work again!

Automatic Duck crashes when trying to import the Prores MXF AAF.

Boris Transfer will import the clips successfully but the comp is empty (no layers) when choosing to link to the MXFs files. When unchecking the ‘link to original source references’ the comp has all the proper layers but has placeholders instead of mxfs…

Actually, here’s an even better solution:

MXF Import by Calibrated Software makes Prores MXF files readable by QT!

Thanks to this software, there is now a smooth workflow with AutoDuck between MC6 Prores MXF and After Effects.

[Oliver Peters] “For the future, in your workflow, I would recommend importing via AMA. Cut down selects and then transcode to DNxHD. Then AutiDuck should work just fine.”

Absolutely! Next project… Thanks for all your help Oliver!

    Here’s my workflow:

1/ Rename DSLR H264 with Adobe Bridge
2/ Consolidate takes from interviews (10 min max on 5D) with Streamclip
3/ Sync & Embed dual system audio tracks with Dual Eyes & QT 7 (some clips will end up with more than 2 audio tracks)
    3/ Add TC with qtChange

4/ Before installing MC6 I used FCP Media Manager to transcode to Prores (Streamclip would not keep the multi-audio tracks intact)

4/ Now I import the H264 (with multi audio tracks synced & TC) with AMA then transcode to ProRes.
