    Ryan –

I wish I could say I was laying off to LTO or using the cloud BUT I still use hard drives, and they are non-RAID array type. I suppose that I would lean toward the Avid codec rather than the Quicktime one if I had to chose between the two.

What other items should be adjusted to get maximum quality based on your experience?

What about the soon arrival of H.265 in regard to a web codec? I notice that the mp4 that I get out of Premiere Pro does not play well on a Quicktime player but, of course, it does great on an Adobe Reader.

Thanks for the tips. Would welcome more.

I thought MPEG Streamclip was one of those apps.

I had not removed the ATI card when I posted this. I have now removed the ATI card and the Quadro 4000 is working as advertised. Now, on to resolving other issues and — hopefully getting some editing work done.

    Thanks all for your help.

  • Thanks for your reply

You are right. Removing the 4870 allowed the computer to recognize the Quadro 4000. All is well. Now on to other challenges – like capturing analog video into Premiere Pro (Beta SP).

    However, my performance has improved.

Thanks again. I really appreciate your response.

My RAM is working perfectly now but the Quadro 4000 card (I think) is causing an error message – the chord connecting the card to the board is not connected properly. I have checked several times and the connection seems secure to me. Is there some suggestion/trick that can get me beyond this point? Thanks for your help.

Thank you so much for your suggestions. I will do then immediately. I have one dumb question though. I thought the Quadro 4000 could only power one monitor. Based on your reply, I must be mistaken. I will let you know how your suggestions work out and thanks so much again.

I have been doing some reading and it seems like you can use the ATI Radeon card to get CUDA performance by adding it to the ‘open CL’ list. I’m a little fuzzy on the details. Could that be a work around that allows for this card to be used? If it is, would this card be just as good as using the Nvidia Quadra 4000?
