It seems most fibre problems are related to Apple’s own drivers for the LSI – Apple-branded fibre cards. Obviously they will work for the Apple XServe Raid arrays, and there is no pressure on Apple to make it work on other hardware. Apple could actually be delaying the fix intentionally in order to force people not to buy Medea, Huge ADTX or other arrays.
So for now I’m stuck in Panther unless I get some (expensive) Celerity cards.

One thing to note – please make sure Tiger is represented at NAB and the PAL-based convention in Amsterdam.
I had to make a decision on a SAN system last NAB, and tiger was on my shortlist until I realised I could not see it and talk to the people first hand at NAB.
A SAN is the type of system that the end users can not buy over the internet – we have to see it working and ask relevant questions on the spot before we can make up our minds.
In my case, I’ve made up my mind, and once a client has purchased a SAN it’s not easy to change.

I had exactly the same problem about 9 months ago. My Cinewave started “fudging” its board ID. Everything else worked, but the RT PRO registration would not work because it needs to read the correct board ID. Verified the problem by installing Cinewave in another machine.
Well, I spoke to Pinnacle and the only way to fix it would be to sign up for a year’s tech support for the board, which would enable me to send the board in for repair. The year’s support fee was a lot more than a Decklink Extreme or a Kona LS board, so I kept the cinewave running in non-RT mode, until it packed up completely two months ago.
Now I have one dead Cinewave board, one working Cinewave analogue BOB, two Kona LS and one Decklink Extreme cards…

I see I made a mistake – macopener is needed to open HFS+ volumes on a PC, and the one shipping with sanMP is limited to 250GB.
Still waiting for ADTX / Apple to sort out tiger. Yesterday I accidentally figured out that even booting into tiger with the ADTX connected, without mounting any LU’s or even installing SANMP causes the other SANMP clients to go weird. Tiger must be writing stuff to the ADTX box which causes this, so for now I’m stuck on Panther.

We work in PAL DV and uncompressed all the time.
Targa sequences must be rendered with upper field first. Use quicktime pro to convert to quicktime: DV codec for use in DV sequences ; Uncompressed 8 bit for uncompressed sequences and animation of you want an alpha channel.
You can edit in a DV (lower first) or uncompressed timeline (upper first) in FCP.
If you have a stobing kind of look on still targe files, it could be that your horisontal lines or other detail is too thin – apply a half-pixel vertical blur to fix, or use a thicker font… White levels that is too high could also cause this – set to max 244; or even oversaturation as well.

We have been using a 1.25GHz upgrade on our G4 500 for about two years now on a pro tools system, including the digidesign TDM hardware cards with their DSP chips without problems. We also run FCP 3 on this system for capturing video and it runs fine.
I would contact Sonnet and ask them about the problem.

We did the opposite: used a Apple fibre card (which is a re-branded LSI card) in a PC. We just got the right driver for our operating system.
So: If you can get a driver – it will work,otherwise not.

In stead of trying to use a sequence in a multiclip, have you rtied eporting each camera angle as a reference quicktime movie? It should be almost instantaneous and take up very little disk space. This would then be used as a new source clip for a multiclip.
