It seems most fibre problems are related to Apple’s own drivers for the LSI – Apple-branded fibre cards. Obviously they will work for the Apple XServe Raid arrays, and there is no pressure on Apple to make it work on other hardware. Apple could actually be delaying the fix intentionally in order to force people not to buy Medea, Huge ADTX or other arrays.

So for now I’m stuck in Panther unless I get some (expensive) Celerity cards.

    Regards
    Francois

    Hey Francois,

Have you got the “Extend Device ID” enabled on the ADTX Controllers? This feature presents further information to the Apple OS and helps resolve some of these kind of LUN issues.

This feature can be accessed of the LCD panel on the ADTX via “options” and “misc options”

    Cheers,
    Nick

    Hi Nick

We’re talking about three months and what feels like a million set-up changes here, but I seem to remember switching on the extended bit on both controllers.

I tried finding our what it actually does, but got no real answer, except that it’s better set to on.

    Regards
    Francois

    Hey Francois,

Worth a quick check of the device ID. I must admit most of my experience is with ADTX and ATTO Adapters rather than the LSI/Apple versions. What is the specific problem that you are seeing under OS 10.4?

    Cheers,
    Nick
