Why do you prefer to import the mp4 clips instead of the real XDCAM EX clips? The xdcam clips are much better quality can be used directly in FCPX via the import window…

I did import your file directly in FCPX and it was flatened …Then I opened it with Affinity Photo (app store) and exported it selecting FCPX compatibility, the resulting psd file imported with all layers available.

Andreas Kiel ( Spherico ) has great tools for subtitles in FCPX …

    https://www.spherico.com/filmtools/

there are also many good softwares on the app store: search for SRT … I mostly use

Final SRT , SRT edit Pro, SRT converter , Subtitle Writer, Subs Factoty depending of the situation, you can also convert SRT to SCC caption and embed closed caption with “Compressor”

    hope this helps

I believe a « role «  must be linked to a minimum of one clip to survive a close and re open of FCPX (it was so in 10.1) maybe it is still that way. You could create a basic library with an event containing one frame clips for every ROLE required …

  • I did a test to replicate this but it also works fine for me either way.

If it is feasible, maybe you can temporally change your clip attributes to stereo … output « dailies » , then restore to original settings.

    my 2 cents

Why is FCPX seeing this file as if it is on a camera card or camera folder ?
Is there a linked metadata file in the same level as this file or could this file have some information in its header that presents it to FCPX as on a camera structure?

If none of these known situations are right recompress to a appropriate ProRes quality and import the result. This could need to be reported to Apple.

February 10, 2015 at 1:36 am in reply to: Quick way to add sequential Takes to Clips metadata

« Shot notes x » can insert metadata from csv ( usually from notes taken on the set)

or simply renaming selected clips of the event via the inspector ( Apply custom name menu) could modify the name sequentially following a define rule, this however does not edit the metadata

This seems to be a promising photo editor for now I am using “Pixelmator” but this other choice is welcome. As far as an “Aperture” replacement software, this could to be a good prospect:
