Yes, that software is Very Old but works well for my needs! Even after installing the Sony Registration Fix for the Older Sonic Foundry programs, SIREN Jukebox would Not activate.

I tried several times, rebooted several times to make sure nothing was going on with Memory. Verified I had Internet access by opening up some random webpages I have not used before. Verified that my Firewall was not on (temp only) to make sure that would not affect anything.

Looks like I will now need to create a ticket to get my older software (that I still use) activated. I still use older software on older systems and when I need to open an older file.

Looks like MAGIX still does not have the entire registration system yet working properly.

    Hi László,

So, last night I tried to activate SIREN Jukebox and it failed. I tried a bunch of times but then I remembered this software (from 2001) is from Sonic Foundry. If I remember correctly, I think I have to use that Sony registration fix since this software was before SONY purchased the Sonic Foundry desktop tools in 2003. Once I install that tonight, I’ll update again but here is hoping that this will work.

    Thanks,

    Hi László,

So this past weekend, I only had time to install MoviEZ HD (Physical product) from DVD and the registration worked right away. Still not sure if this went to SCS or MAGIX? There is no Manual option to activate this software.

    So far, this is working.

I will be testing some older Sonic Foundry software to see if they register as well. MoviEZ HD came out in 2011 and the two other pieces of software I want to try are much older so that would be a good test.

    Thanks,

September 12, 2016 at 2:22 pm in reply to: can’t dragAVI Files in Sony Vegas

    Giorgio Bani ,

I guess I have to ask if you tried to play the .avi file first on your system without using Vegas? What I mean is, awhile back I had an issue under Windows 7 and I could no longer play .avi files. I ended up having to re-install the IndeoVideo codec v5.11 and then performing this.

    1. Install IndeoVideo v5.11 with Custom install options

    2. Uncheck the Web Browser box and install software

    3. Open a ‘command prompt’ using a rightclick, select, ‘Run as Administrtor’

    4. Type: cd C:\Windows\SysWOW64 (32bit users can skip this step) – press enter

    5. Type: regsvr32 ir50_32.dll – press enter

I was then able to play .avi’s fine. I’m not saying this is your issue but the above recommendations will at least tell you if you have the IndeoVideo codec on your system.

September 12, 2016 at 2:18 pm in reply to: Reinstalling Magix Vegas Pro 13 on another Pc?

I swear that I asked this question several months ago about the online verification and I thought Eric had responded back saying Vegas would only need a one-time verification and activation online once. After that, we could use the software offline.

This whole issue with the EULA is a deal breaker for me and I hope that someone at MAGIX clarifies their statement. Going from installing the SCS software onto as many systems as we own (Great), to only one system under the new MAGIX EULA is bad in IMHO as well.

I really hope that MAGIX is not changing everything. So far, I have not been impressed about the procedure on how to get our original logins from the SCS to MAGIX. I had to read the instructions on the forums. No email sent to me and I have been with Sonic Foundry / Sony since 2002. I have over 30 pieces of software registered so I’m little miffed by this whole process so far.

    Bob,

It just seems lately that innovative software almost always seems to get gobbled up by larger companies wanting to “take the code” and incorporate into their overpriced software. I really hope I’m wrong, but in the near future I see Large Companies only and innovation out the door.

I really hope someone can pickup where Alan left us and start making improvements to this software without having us pay a Yearly Fee to keep using it like in Adobe’s case.

It was weird and sad to see Alan says he is now in a different part of the industry? I’m not sure why that means, but sounds like he is done with looking back at his “code”.

I still wonder if GenArts knew this was coming and did not want to update our particleillusion program. Still not sure why Alan did not have some kind a clause in his buy-out. Back in 2007/2008 he was talking about version 3.5 and 4.0. I’m still a little miffed that this software was “left to die”.

I mean, for crying out loud Alan got his rights back from the previous company so he could improve it! 🙂 Here’s hoping something good arrives for particleillusion.

September 9, 2016 at 7:55 pm in reply to: Reinstalling Magix Vegas Pro 13 on another Pc?

So, it appears that Magix is changing what SCS had in terms of the number of PC’s I could install software onto? I just read it, and it appears they are saying you can install the number on only the specific number of licenses you have. I thought under SCS we could install Vegas Pro onto as many systems as we own. (2 Desktops, Laptop as long as they were not used at the same time)

Am I reading this incorrectly now?

    Hi László,

Ok, this weekend I’m going to try the older MoviEZ HD and Cinescore to see if they can be activated the “normal” way.

    Thanks.

    Wow….

Makes me wonder if GenArts knew this was coming so that is why they did not update Particleillusion program anymore.

    Thanks for the News!
