The serial numbers of the software are tied to a board serial. So if you have an XS encryption code it only works with the board the code is created for. If you get another board you need the encryption code for this boardset. -

It depends. If your drives are striped or initialized by anything else than Apples own disk tool you probably need to reformat them under OSX. If they are “standard” HFS+ volumes with no partitioning or striping they should work fine.

You definitely should look at ATTOs site for drivers for the card that support the OS you are planning to install. And you either should contact Medea or search the archive here about the Medea stuff, I think I can remember some Medea/OSX problems.
Generally I would suggest keeping your OS9 system folder as it is right now and either install OSX on a FireWire drive or the internal boot drive additionally to your OS9 installation. Install all the software you need under OSX, but leave your array untouched unless you know that everything else is working nicely under OSX: Do some digitizing at a low res on your internal drive to see if Media 100 works as expected. If everything is fine and you have some time without deadlines bring your drives to OSX.

It is true. There is a problem with the Vincent 601 boards to digitize in 720 (601) resolution. Only P6000 boards work correctly with that (and of course HDs)

Have you installed the latest ATTO drivers and firmware for the card? Is the card recognized in Apple System Profiler? Do the drives show up in Disk Utility?

sw does not have the hardware, so it uses the Software Codec all the time. It gets installed with the SW beta. But if you install sw on a Media 100 i system you still have to disable the hardware codec as described.

What codec did you use for digitizing into FCP? There are codecs that can be played back by sw in realtime, and some can be “fast imported”. While the DV codec can be played back in realtime the current beta of sw cannot fast-import DV files from FCP, only from iMovie. It can slow-import them (fast import should come in a later release, AFAIK), but obviously this is slower than a fast import 😉

This usually is a performance problem that can be caused by many things. Have you defragmented your drives? If there are very full or fragmented this could cause the problem. Have you tried removing all unnecessary/3rd party system extensions? Have you turned off FileSharing? Checked SCSI connections? Installed the latest recommended SCSI card driver?

A self contained file is a QuickTime file, that contains all the video information, while a reference file only contains pointers to the original media files. Both are compressed with the Media 100 i codec and have exactly the same quality as the digitized file, no recompression is applied.
If you open one of those files in QuickTime player or any other quicktime based application a codec is needed to decompress the file. If you have a “standard” installation of Media 100 i the hardware codec on the P6000 board is used, so Media 100 i cannot access the codec anymore and therefore you cannot open the Media 100 i application. But Media 100 has released a free Software Codec, which does allow you to open Media 100 i files without hardware access (either on your Media 100 i system or on any other Mac). If you want to install it on a Media 100 i system (and I really would recommend to do that!!!) you should read the instructions on the download page. -
Are you using Red3.02, the latest version? Maybe you should delete the Boris Prefs…
