What happens if you do a “force render all” before you open the export window? Does the system crash then also?
Do you have selected a codec & location for rendering clips?

Hmmm, does the app crash when you open the export window, or when it actually tries to start the export? Do you export by reference, self-contained or as Quicktime? Have you tried a “Force Render All” before exporting?

You cannot install 10.6.8 and keep MJPEG-B / Media 100 i footage working. Apple broke the MJPEG-B codec with the 10.6.8 update and only fixed it again with the 10.7.2 update. So you either need to stay at 10.6.7 or move to 10.7.2

There are various reasons that could be responsible for this Timecode message:
– If your tape is completely rewound, it could be that the system looks for a timecode smaller than the tape start TC (e.g. if you have timecode jumps/discontinuous timecode on the tape).
– You could have the wrong tape in the deck (so that the system cannot find the timecode it is looking for)
– If you have acquired the clips manually, it could be the case that your start TC is too small. If you e.g. have set your system with 5 secs of preroll, and the TC it is looking for is 00:00:04:00, it would look for a negative TC for preroll, and give an error message
– Maybe your preroll is too large
– If you captured across timecode breaks initially, the app could search for TCs that simply don´t exist on the tape (especially if the tape is recorded in “Free Run” mode, e.g. with time of day TC)
– your system settings don´t match your original settings (timecode is not the same as it was on the initial acquire). You could drag the clip you want to acquire to a bin, and acquire a “fresh” clip and compare the details in the Bin List view to see if everything matches.

Do you mean 2.0.1 or 2.1? In both instances, there should be a “Media 100 Release Notes” document under the “Media 100 Suite”->Launch menu item. There you can find the minimum and recommended driver versions for each release.

Unfortunately downgrading QuickTime is not something Apple intended you to do. Most likely some code fragments are left untouched, so you still see these issues, I guess.
MacOSX 10.7.2 does fix the problem, so if you are on 10.7.x, you should update to the latest release to get this working again. If you are on 10.6.x, you either need to reinstall 10.6.8 with the “older” QuickTime version, or maybe consider upgrading to Lion. Or if you have a system backup somewhere from the time before installing the QuickTime update, this would be the moment to get it.

Depending on which G5 you bought you either have PCI-X or PCI-Express slots. If you have PCI-X you could be lucky and find a used expansion chassis cheap somewhere. We used to use them in Blue&White G3 days, since they did not have enough internal slots for the Media 100 boards.
If you have a G5 with PXI Express it is much more unlikely that you will find a cheap used expansion chassis.
Both G5 flavors can be used with Media 100 Suite (up to the latest release pre V2). Either as software only, or with boards that fit into the systems. For PCI-X systems there is the Media 100 HDx board, plus some Aja-based PCI-X boards, for the PCI express there are boards from Aja, Matrox and Blackmagic that can be used, depending on your budget and I/O needs.
If you get a license of Media 100 Suite, Boris Red is always included.

Unfortunately your P6000 (or older) Media 100 board won´t physically fit into a G5. The PCI-slots in a G5 are PCI-X, and while they are backwards-compatible with PCI-boards that use 3.3V power, they are not with boards that also need 5V power (like the P6000 boards). You can use the P6000 board with a G5 when putting the board in a PCI Expansion chassis, though. But of course you would need a chassis as well as a G5.

It is not necessary, but maybe in some rare occasions it can avoid some problems. You can use the Installer of your version to uninstall.

Yeah, sounds like your audio files are simply missing. Try moving all the media files to the external drive and relinking to them before exporting the XML from the V2.1 system
