Was the “Import Media to the Media Standard and Compressor” checkbox checked? If yes, then new files will be created without TC. Try bringing the bin with the clips, this should definitely work with TC.

There should be no setting that can affect that. Did you transfer the bin also? Or did you export the clips from Media 100 i? If you just copy the source clips or the source clips and the bin you should end up with the correct timecode except you use the “Import Media to the Media Standard and Compressor” checkbox in the import dialog which will create new clips without TC.

The best thing you can do is to download the fully functional trial version to see for yourself how it works.
sw does use native DV-clips from FCP or iMovie, so you can work natively with the clips you digitized in these applictions. And you can mix these clips with your “old” Media 100 i material plus e.g. uncompressed material from AE with alpha channel, and all this without rendering.
We really enjoy the functionality of sw and HD, and it will be a big productivity boost over Media 100 i due to its more video layers and more realtime capabilities.
Exporting to Compressor also works as expected. You even can set your chapter marks within Media 100 sw which will be carried over to DVDSP on compression. Really a nice feature we use quite often.But as I said, download the trial version and try for yourself…

This really sounds like a bad drive. One thing you could try though is to either put the drive into another FireWire chassis if you have one or to put it into one of the G4s internally if the drive is less than 128GB. In MPEG Streamclip you could try exporting as “lossless” using the Animation codec at the highest data rate, which is also supported natively by HD. Maybe there is a bug in either MPEG Streamclip or the Media 100 i codec that does not work for you.

Commandsoft, the creators of FibreJet also have a software called StorDirector, which will allow you to do that.

You should use BitVice instead for MPEG2 compression. There is a bug in Compressor 2 that causes this blocky transitions when using 2pass VBR encoding. Plus, unlike Compressor or MPEG2 export BitVice can handle Media 100 colorspace correctly.

We have the A16F-G2221 (16drives), which is our storage for Hi Def projects, and it works very well. But I would not bet that an 8-drive system is fast enough to deliver uncompressed 10bit HD. You should find a reseller that can give you a system for testing or who at least guarantees that the system can handle these data rates, and if not takes back the unit.
