Actually found out that the dtNT is the original Media 100 i (Vincent board) codec in NTSC, therefore the NT part in dtNT. So I guessed right that this actually is Media 100 i 640*480 NTSC media which *should* work in Media 100 Suite. Send me a file and I will have a look.

    Hey Brent,

many of the GoPro tips here (e.g. about converting the footage first) also apply to Media 100. The FPS change mentioned there via CinemaTools would work for Media 100 as well. Or you can do that in AE also, by interpreting the source framerate as 25 or 29.97, depending on your project needs.

  • Okay, let´s see. You have legacy Media 100 i files, which should be in the Media 100 i codec. Can you open the files in QuickTime player? What kind of information gets displayed there?

Could you upload a small sample timeline and the associated movie files to something like yousendit.com or wetransfer.com as a zip archive so that I can have a look at it?

not sure what the dtNT codec is… are these Media 100 files? iFinish? Something else? The legacy Media 100 i codec gets installed with the Media 100 app, so there should be nothing else you would need to install.

Nearly all PAL DVD Players can play back NTSC Discs.
Not all NTSC DVD Players can play back PAL Discs, only some can.

Good Question. I guess chances would be much better if we would find a way to reliably reproduce the issue. Right now it is somewhat difficult to say what the actual reason for the UI lockup is.

Regarding Red6: not sure about it, but I would guess that Red6 will be released only as a 64bit app. Since Media 100 is 32 bit only, I guess it will be not easy to integrate Red into Media 100. But this is only a guess from me!!! Maybe I am wrong about this.

The fact that if you return from Red the Media 100 UI is sometimes blocked (as it is during editing a Red clip) is the bug I was speaking about. To me it happened both in title clips as well as in Red comps or “Edit Clip” mode. But it seems to happen to me much less often than to other users. It is somewhat problematic to fix a bug that happens only randomly. If you have a way to reproduce it reliably, I guess chances would be better that we get a fix for it.

There are definitely some things in V1.7.1 that won´t work under 10.8; I am not sure if it will work at all; probably not. But even if it works, some features will not be available. For example, Apple removed the oval dots at the upper right hand corner of each window to show/hide more options. Media 100 did/does use them, and so the engineers needed to implement a way to show/hide the options without the bubbles. Probably there is more like that, which I don´t remember right now.

Overall, V2.1.x is a really stable version (except for the strange Boris Red problem, where Red sometimes does not release the app back when exiting), so I would not recommend trying to run V1.7.1 on 10.8.x

Hmmm, does the system already try to load a project? Does not sound like it from your description.

Do you have a Hardware I/O board installed? Any new version of the board software?

And you could look in the System Preferences, under Audio->Output. What kind of output do you have selected there? Try changing the output to Line Out.
