First, I generally think it is not a good idea to acquire without audio. Today you should have enough of HD space for some additional audio files.
Second, there is no real easy way to add your audio tracks inside Media 100. But luckily it still can be done easily for reacquiring:
Put all the clips you want to reacquire with audio into a bin.
Export the bin as a PowerLog file (Select the Bin, File->Export->PowerLog)
Locate the exported PowerLog file in the Finder and open it up in e.g. TextEdit
See that there is a column where you should have many “V”s one below the other.
Replace all “V” with “VA1A2” (without the “)
Save the file and reimport the PowerLog file into Media 100.
You now should have a bin with all clips including audio ready for reacquire. -

I looked on the Boris website, and it seems like these old updates are not posted there anymore. I would suggest getting in touch with Boris support or sales to see if you can get the updates from 2.0 to 2.1.2 from somewhere. Should be free, as far as I can recall.

Do you have no version of BorisFX at all? If you don´t need the effects, you should not need to buy the newer version. What kind of problems are you seeing?

What you are seeing and working with is 16:9 anamorphotic video, meaning that it is in the normal 720*576 (PAL) or 720*486 (NTSC) size, but the pixels should get displayed in a much more rectangular way than with 4:3 video. When you set Media 100 i to 16:9, you will see that your viewer windows are changed to 16:9 aspect ratio, and your video is displayed correctly on your computer screen (if your footage is not acquired as 16:9 you can change that via the “Change Media attributes” command, which only will change the “flagging” of the video to tell the system that it is widescreen footage.
You need to change the settings on your video monitor to 16:9 to view anamorphic footage correctly. And make sure to label your tapes correctly, so that the person receiving the tapes will know that it is 16:9.
What you are speaking about with the black bars is not 16:9, but is a 4:3 letterboxed version of your 16:9 footage, which will lose picture informations. Media 100 i cannot output a letterboxed version in realtime (Media 100 HD on the Kona3 board can). If you want to resize it in Boris to a 4:3 letterbox version you need to scale it to 75% on the Y axis. -
Now do yourself a favor, install a second internal HD, and use Carbon Copy Cloner from time to time to clone your startup drive. In case something goes wrong again you simply can start up from the second HD and you should be up and running.

Yes, most likely you have a “standard mismatch”. If you look in the batch acquire window, there is a row with 4 symbols between the upper and lower area. If you click on the exclamaiton mark sign, you probably will get your clips to show up with a “std. mismatch” message. This means that you try to reacquire with a different setting, e.g. 4:3 clips with your hardware set to 16:9. Either you need to set your hardware to the correct settings, or if you want to force reacquire in your current hardware settings you need to hold down CTRL and Shift to force video and ALT and Command to force audio to be reacquired in your current settings at the time you enter batch reacquire.

If you are still seeing these problems with V12.7.1 the Media 100 guys have added some hidden prefs to adjust for these problems. If you are interested I can look it up how you can do that.

That depends…
You need OSX 10.5.x for the latest version, and once you have saved a timeline in a newer version you cannot open it again in an older version. I would recommend having a second boot drive for testing and backup purposes. Install OSX 10.5.4 there, V12.7.1 and the Aja Kona 5.1.1NDD drivers there, and give it a try.

There have been done some optimizations to later Media 100 versions to have better controls of HDV decks. Problem is that their reaction time (e.g. from FF to Play) is extremely long, which causes Media 100 to miss the targeted Timecodes quite often. You could download the V12.7.1 trial version to see if your problems are fixed there. FireWire HDV deck control should be much better.
