You could maybe add some birds by using Aharon Rabinowitz technique in part one and two of his bird flock tutorial, found here, https://library.creativecow.net/articles/rabinowitz_aharon/bird_flock1.php, and here, https://library.creativecow.net/articles/rabinowitz_aharon/bird_flock2.php,
    hope this helps a bit.

Of course, it depends on how far he wants to take the effect.

Or you could use the shatter effect z-depth trick and set the back map to be a duplicate of the front layer..and that way you could set the extrusion to whatever you wanted.

I looked into what you were saying, adding z-depth to something animated, and i believe i have found a solution, but it involves having you animation to have transparency, and be precomped. I will make a video tutorial explaining my technique. Can I have a copy of your animation to demonstrate?

I’m in the same boat. I’m trying to re-record my video tutorial with better quality so the COW can host it for me, (thanks again, COW!), but I can’t ever get it to compress or something right and look good in the flash format.

well, i figured out maybe how to help you with that, and i re-recorded the tutorial with both ways, and it’s much better quality, and you’ll see it soon.

Ok, well, it’s done. To watch it, go here.

    https://www.freewebs.com/finalrenderfilms/Shining%5FText%5FTutorial.html

Sorry for the poor quality, and sorry that it loads slow. It’ll load for maybe a minute and then the loading will speed up really fast and then it’ll start playing.

I uploaded it on freewebs, so please don’t overdue the tiny 400 MB bandwith….

If creative cow wants to host it, I’m all ears…:)

and if anyone else would like to host it on their server, that would be great, thanks…

Well, Franca, good news. I just recorded a tutorial on how to jsut exactly what your asking. It’s rendering now, then I’ll upload it to my site.

All I ask is you register on my site, post your comments on the tutorial in it’s thread and hopefully post more too. 🙂

I’ll post the link when it’s done.
