Yes, you’re sampling the image and that gives 4 values in an array [r, g, b, a]

Position needs 2: [x,y].

So you’ll have to do some kind of calculation on the color to translate it into a position-value.

For example add this final line:

[x[0], x[1]]*20;

And it will use red and green (0th and 1st element of x] with white moving 20px, black zero…

Bonus:

If you have your original Text in another Layer, you can automatically calculate the optimal number of repeats by dividing the approximate length of the Path by the width of the original Text.

Like this:

OK, this works:

txt = text.sourceText+" \u200B";
txt.repeat(10);

Unicode character 200B is a zero-width space, after the regular space, it doesn’t interfere with anything in the middle repeats, and it fixes the final margin.

Hi Ahad,

The Transform Property Group is at the same depth as the hidden Contents group.

So “anchorPoint” has to count “Transform” as 1 level.

And “Rectangle Path” would have to count invisible “Contents” as 1 level.

Hope that’s clear.

I suggest you use the script “gimmeproppath” to inspect the hierarchy.

You could add 1 character that has the same width as the space (could be “-“ or “_” or “m”, whatever; it depends on the font and you can experiment to find the best one.).

And then use a text animator to select just that 1 character and set its opacity to 0
