  • Is the ball on it’s own layer in photoshop ? And does it have transparancy there ?

    If not, you need to make an alpha-channel for the yellow ball.

    Ypu can do this in After effects, but I would do it in Photoshop:
    I’d suggest duplicating the blue channel and using that as an alpha, you might want to tweak the levels;
    then once the yellow ball has it’s own layer, don’t forget to “remove white matting” from that layer.

    In After effects import your .psd as a composition, or import only the ball-layer.
    Now you should have transparancy.

    Nope, the font is part of the actual text contents,

    but you can make keyframes for the “source text”-property and have the same text with different fonts,
    then use an expression to choose the keyframe of each layer according to for instance a slider value on the master or a null layer.

    Try the “reduce interlace flicker” or another slight blur on your layer, and possibly also on an adjustment layer ontop of your composition.
    I’m assuming you’re outputting to a television screen, where vertical details of less than 2 pixels will flicker.

    You can copy a mask and paste it to position keyframes. If you use that same mask as a stroke on another layer, you’ll have your effect.

    Also, you can move the layer first, and pick-whip it’s position to the position of the write-on point on another layer. That way a line will be drawn following the motion of the layer.

    Often it makes more sense to animate the Anchor-point, evnthough it gives the same relative result: the picture moves.
    But when you add scaling keyframes, it makes much more sense to still have the image scale around the center of the view instead of from some point that’s offscreen.

    try for yourself.

  • Normally, sets will appear as nested compositions, so open the nested comp (alt-doubleclick on the layer name in the timeline), you should see all the seperate layers there.
