When animating images in AE that are high resolution, but contain large amounts of close integrate detail, the images will always render with weird scan lines or jittery pixels – what can be done as a work around? Any good techniques? I’m tried various things but have not been able to produce good results. Thanks for your help.

Try the “reduce interlace flicker” or another slight blur on your layer, and possibly also on an adjustment layer ontop of your composition.
I’m assuming you’re outputting to a television screen, where vertical details of less than 2 pixels will flicker.
