The extras on the DVD for The Lord of the Rings reveal how many different techniques they used to create the interaction between dwarfs, hobbits and normal people.

For some shots they used green-screen, they also had a two Biblo houses, one smaller than the other, to do Gandalf shots.

They used little people wearing masks for some open scenes, in others they simple putted the actors on their knees next to a standing person. It really was each shot what was calling for it’s own solution.

If you can get your hands on the extended edition of those movies you’ll get a great source of ideas.

I started using P2 files in Premiere without previous folder organizing and I felt like you. But that was the common case of “the lazy guy works double”. I just started to create folders and sub-folders arranging the files and that did it fine for me.

Sometimes I create different comps just for a fast search between common clips. I keep them open and if I have to search a shot from, for example, the exterior of a building and I have tons of them, I do not have to double click endless clips to see what they have, I just scroll the time line watching all of them, then copy-paste to my work comp.

Shooting the subject a little underexposed and letting the window blow could help to create a nice luma matte.

I think uncertainty is the name of the ghost here. The false difference between clear hope and dark realism. The ultimate true is that nobody know whats next, we can only be sure to do our best each time.

In Mexico we read everyday in the newspapers that the government is very proud of our progress, but the streets are burning in violence and people are still loosing jobs. But I still see people celebrating life, eating well and watching football. A local tragedy transforms in a joke in a couple of days, sometimes a couple of hours. And while many friends are closing his business gates, others are opening champaign. Nobody is really starving to death, it’s just that the money is changing hands. Hard for some, luck for others. Let’s just open our eyes and adapt.

Something was telling me that the storyboard I posted wasn’t the best way to promote me as a storyboard artist. LOL.

Anyway, no straight answer for Sebastian. Last time I checked, a professional drawer was charging around 300 pesos per slide (around 22 dollars). Those drawings were used as final in a video. A storyboard sketch could be different in price. But that was here in my dear country.

I do play guitar and since now I record only with an external mic and I was considering a plug-in guitar because it seems more practical, but I wasn’t sure about the final sound.
