not sure if this is the right forum but here goes. shooting a video where the subject is supposed to be bigger than everyone else. kind of david banner turns into the hulk type thing looking for ideas on the best way to do that? I’m thinking green screen since the giant man needs to interact with normal size people ie. toss them around. trying to make it look good and keep it as simple as possible. any suggestions would be appreciated

The extras on the DVD for The Lord of the Rings reveal how many different techniques they used to create the interaction between dwarfs, hobbits and normal people.

For some shots they used green-screen, they also had a two Biblo houses, one smaller than the other, to do Gandalf shots.

They used little people wearing masks for some open scenes, in others they simple putted the actors on their knees next to a standing person. It really was each shot what was calling for it’s own solution.

If you can get your hands on the extended edition of those movies you’ll get a great source of ideas.

don’t forget the best ones, forced perspective of an object far away with a close object, and steep shots where you can’t tell the ground is highly curved. cheap, but effective.

watch “Elf” – Will Ferrell film that makes great use of forced perspective all shot in camera. Clever choreography and framing makes it look like the actors are interacting.

And don’t forget that if you cut to a closeup of him touching something, the fabric will need to be a smaller/tighter weave.
