That will depend on the nature of your footage. It will be difficult to perfect match video from the two cameras (not for the compression format, but for the CCD and internal process on each one). That will be a stylistic decision in the end. Viewers are more forgiving when watching something “documentary” style.

If this were my project, I’ll do some tests, but if you have worked that way in the past with pleasant results, the final compression for the iPad should add you no extra issues. On the contrary, the difference on detail and crispiness will probably be blurred when the final compression is added.

Better shoot progressive, not interlaced.

Consider your final frame rate for the one you’re going to use in the camera. If you’re going for 15 fps on the final video, then record at 30 fps, not 24.

Still shots compress better than moving shots. Complex changing backgrounds, like a fountain or trees on the wind, can cause artifacts on the final compression too. Not a rule to avoid this, but it’s nice to know in advance what can give you problems at the very end.

In advertising we used to create storyboards to present ideas for the clients. Those were done by a professional drawer. So, what he charged was the real cost of the Storyboard.

For production, a napkin can be OK, if you can understand what you originally draw there. LOL.

Actionscript is the programming language for Flash. You may get better advice for this question on the Flash forum.

I have achieved the effect you’re mentioning, but not using Actionscript, also, not with dynamic text. Just plain animation using masks and fades.

I have heard this is a two step process. But I haven’t tried successfully yet.

First, you must recover the data with some recovery software that allows you to define a custom file type. Like Boomerang or Data Rescue.

There’s an utility from Calibrated Software that allows you to recognize orphan MXF files that you can save later as quicktime movies. I found all of this suggestions for the Mac, but I’m in a PC, so haven’t had luck yet.

A last resort is to send the card to Panasonic. They’re supposed to have some recovery lab.

No open source CMS template will ever be easy to customize. Well, maybe not ever forever, but right now that’s how it is.

I know Dreamweaver CS5 have some nice tools to debug and change design and content for that kind of CMS sites, but I have not tested it yet.

There are some studies about Banner Blindness that show how people can recognize banners and moving pictures in a web page as advertising and ignore them to directly reach the content. Usually the text areas on a page.

The same phenomena occurs with the navigation. If you are consistent trough your site users can identify it and ignore it until they need to go somewhere else in your site.

This is true when users are looking for content, but when they (us) are searching for something to buy, then they actually focus on the ad looking graphics.

As some governments have politics on advertising for public places, the COW have defined spots for advertising so they don’t interfere when you are looking for content, but are findable when you need to look for a product. Even the Jobs forums are a great way to “clean up” the technical and opinion forums.
