[John Collins] “thats a real shame. I watched Internet Killed the Video Star by Aharon Rabinowitz and was pretty impressed with his explanation of Sorenson.”
Don’t get me wrong – I learned A LOT from watching just the intro to Aharon’s video and he has never lead me wrong before. He does great work and is one of the most valuable resources on AE and Compression, so I am certain that I am doing something wrong…
I just wish I knew what I was doing that was causing the skew. I also realized that I had other issues with my Flash CODEC as well.
I am going to go back to the drawing board on this one.
Please don’t take my word for it. I am just a single person who is having this issue obviously.
I will report back with my findings.

December 6, 2007 at 1:51 pm in reply to: AE Composition to FLV-File (Squeeze or FlixPro8?)I am trying to replicate the following:
https://blogs.adobe.com/keyframes/2007/10/creating_interactive_video_wit.html
So I think the cue points are heavily related to markers. I am still kinda new though – so I don’t know if I am using the wrong terminology. Since I am motion tracking there are several hundred markers so I think writing them down is out of the question. (this project is just not that important)
Someone told me that the marker data sticks to mov files as well but I am skeptical. Mostly because I gave it a try. But I could be doing something wrong.
I am also having issues even exporting as an FLV using the render queue so I must have done something wrong there too.
I bet there is a straight flash solution to this problem. It just sucks because so far all I have found is a $4000 program. https://www.videoclix.com/
Basically – I am looking to eventually make my way to having hotspot Flash Video. Complete with rollovers and clicks which will take the user to external links. I found this adobe blog and saw it as a jumping off point for my final goal…
Seems that there is a TON of action scripting involved in what I want to do and I have been actively looking for a solution. When I read about the queue points thing I figured that I could adapt this technique to allow me to do what I wanted to do. The video clix software is extremely powerful and offers its OWN motion tracking engine which will create the hotspots and do what I want it to do… HOWEVER my client is looking to spend below $4000 which makes it difficult for me to justify the cost.
I am confident that I can pull other business using the technique but it would certainly make for a great christmas for me if I saved 4 grand because I figured out how to do it myself.
Sorry for the long post but I have been at this for a few days and I just can’t seem to find any reliable documentation on how this can be accomplished. I have even looked at some legacy programs such as Adobe Director to solve this problem but that serves its own problem as there is rumor that someday a new version will be released.
Sigh – there are a ton of people out there doing this – I just don’t know how.
Thanks for your help.

I don’t think that Sorenson does the job well enough. I tried and tried and tried again to get the audio to sync properly but in the end I had to use the Adobe Flash Encoder. I think I might have gained a good 1mb or more in fat but who knows. I would rather my audio be synced up and have a big file I think.
As I said previously in this thread… Its too bad too because I had a whole conversation with my boss about how we just HAD to buy this program because it would solve all our compression problems…
Too bad. Money poorly spent. I just lied and said: WOW, I am so glad I watched that Video online about web compression! It really worked! Bosses were happy. Oh well. Next time I will think twice before spending money like that.

December 5, 2007 at 9:42 pm in reply to: AE Composition to FLV-File (Squeeze or FlixPro8?)I have a series of markers that I motion tracked in order to use in my flash project. So how can I export my video from AE and maintain that data so it appears as cue points in flash?
Thanks

This is only helpful if you are exporting as an FLV directly from AE… Is there another way? I would like to use Sorrenson Squeeze to compress my FLV which I obviously cannot do if I have to export directly from the AE project.
Also – I do not actually have an “export as Adobe FLV” as an option in my render que options.
ERR… Can anyone help?
Thanks

[Aharon Rabinowitz] “A quick question – why not just generate the FLV in Squeeze and create the player in Flash, set to load that FLV?”
I agree – this is the way I did my flash video.
You know what would be really cool. If the video tutorial on how to create flash video players (I think Lee B. did it here on CC) came with some project files.
I LOVE the player that Andrew K uses in his videos (could be the same one Creative Cow uses?). I would love to have the flash project file for that player…
Then I could just modify the colors and settings as needed.
Better than creating one from scratch which takes a long time.

[Danny2007] “Err, how long is it? – Whatever, I wouldn’t worry too much about the file size, if the picture looks good and the sound is good and in synce then you should be happy”
It’s 1 minute long. (seems VERY short to have the audio skew so badly) I feel bad because the Sorenson program is expensive and in the end it didn’t do what I wanted. I ended up just using the Flash Encoder which gave me better results.
I could have delivered the job cheaper if I just used the flash encoder.
Still have not solved the audio problem. If anyone knows please let me know.

One new thing – I just finished kicking the video out of the Flash Video Encoder and the audio is perfect… (however my filesize is just slightly over my target size)
My required video res is 800×450 (16:9) is a 5-6MB filesize too much to expect for a high quality video?
Thanks
