I’ve put together https://www.fcpeffects.com. There’s only one transition on there now, but I hope to add more effects when I get time this weekend.
There will be both free and paid effects.
If you’re interesting in selling effects through FCPeffects.com, fill out this form and I’ll get you signed up: https://www.fcpeffects.com/pages/contact

July 20, 2011 at 1:08 pm in reply to: New site for selling Motion effects to FCP X usersI look forward to seeing what you create. Maybe you can sell some stuff through FCPeffects.com once you learn the ropes!
BTW, I made the site public last evening. You can can go there and download a free transition I made and read my blog post about synchronizing effects with other machines.

July 19, 2011 at 7:41 pm in reply to: New site for selling Motion effects to FCP X usersActually the store is fully functional an ready to go, I just haven’t made it public yet.
Once I have more people interested in selling their effects signed up for the contributor program I’ll open it up for use.
If you or anyone else is interested in selling their content (effects, color presets, transitions, templates, title and content generators) send me an email at FCPeffects at gmail dot com. All contributors earn 50% of the sale of their products (monthly through paypal).

July 1, 2011 at 4:21 am in reply to: Taking FCPX/Motion 5 Effects on the go. Best practices? After trying these methods, #3 seems to work best.
Sugarsync accounts are free up to 5GB and super easy to set up (its a lot like Dropbox, but with more control). I just point it to sync the ‘Motion Templates’ folder on each machine and they are all merged.
If I go somewhere without internet access, I will just use #1 before I leave.

June 26, 2011 at 6:42 pm in reply to: Customizing Keyframes & Official Location for feature requests?Believe me I’ve tried right clicking on them and nothing comes up.
Has anyone else tried this for cropping and effects keyframes. I’ve tried right clicking on the keyframes in the “Inspector” and “Video Animation” menu, neither results in more choices when right clicking.
Right clicking on audio fade handles does provide more choices though…

June 26, 2011 at 5:26 pm in reply to: Customizing Keyframes & Official Location for feature requests?I’m not sure if you can rig options for the cropping and “Ken Burns” effects. I may be wrong, but I’m pretty sure that you can only rig options for effects and transitions found in the effects/transition browser.
Being an avid After Effects user, I never took the time to learn Motion. I am in the process of watching some Motion 5 tutorials now, hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised and find a solution.

June 26, 2011 at 4:48 pm in reply to: Customizing Keyframes & Official Location for feature requests?I agree. At this point, we can assume that Apple is aware of the major missing features like XML export and multicamera editing, but some of the smaller features that are equally important to many of our workflows and editing styles that need to be added… Apple may not even realize that many editors want some of these features back (i.e. changing the way keyframes interpolate)
There’s this https://www.apple.com/feedback/finalcutpro.html, but FCP X isn’t one of the version options yet and IMO there’s still a benefit of a location where these requests can be public submitted, commented on, and prioritized.
Ranting is of no use now, its time to provide constructive feedback so the dev team can get there act together and revitalize the FCP brand.

I thought that it was unique to the clip too until I realized it was happening on every stabilized clip.
I’ve noticed that it happens when the clip/media ends (either naturally or because a subclip was being used). My workaround is to simply trim off the end after stabilizing.
I have reinstalled Vegas and tested on other machines and experience the same results with all kinds of shots.
Anyone able to recreate this?

I have also been trying to achieve smoother slow motion and came across this tutorial, Butter-smooth slow motion.
(At the bottom is the instructions for Vegas users). However, it says to disable resampling. When I do this I get some of the same problems Mark was having… repeated frames and choppy looking slomo. What gives? If I set resampling to “force” or “smart” it plays much smoother better.
I am thoroughly confused.
