As I understand then, my current version of (Studio suite) FCP 5 and DVD SP will have to be up graded to Universal
and…they simply will not function on an intel mac?
the universal and upgraded vesion (cost $49) will work and is optimised for mac intels…

as well as ILIFE suite 6 is optimised and will run much faster (how much) than before?

I have to to do some on the road editing with HDV.
I am revisiting this issue…no luck the last time..
i have a G4 laptop 2gig RAM 1.67 GHz FIrewire 800 ext HD

what is the best workflow and settings for simply ingesting HDV 1080i from Z1
to just do cuts no efx..

Thanks but,

MySony DSR 2000 Stuio deck encoded the tape as 16:9 fooatge,(a menu option) so that when
FCP sees it through Firewire it thinks it needs to letterbox it.

What I was looking for is a feature that Imovie has in its preferances which disables the
letterboxing.

as it is my 4:3 footage is being squeezed and looks distorted.

any one has experience with this?

another poker question for you…
I am trying to capture in HDV and output to DVDSP to create a 5 minute SD DVD?
what is the workflow…do you export a QT off the TL or export a mpeg 2 using the compressor presets?

and what if one was to make a QT file from an HDV file to show cleint on the computer PC or Mac

I managed to be able to capture and playback the HDV footage in the source viwer as well the sequence.
I really think its the settings…dont ask me which, i just craeted a new project and it worked.

before upgrtading to 5.0 i could play full screen in second attached vga monitor; now when moniror is attached the image freezes, audio however is heard.

any ideas?

what version liquid are you using?
there was an issue with liquid LEs (ver 6) edl output …problem with non drop and drop frame TC
also:
you can use a word prcessor to copy and replace the reel/clip names

i was prevbiously able to monitor full screen playbackof my sequence in fcp 4.5 by pressing f12
this is notg happening…
in a/v setup prefs the option is rayed out and under view, external video is grayed out too

would appreciate any help
