I believe there’s a script that will replace text on aescripts.com but I can’t remember what it’s called. Try just searching “text” on their site.

Have you tried other fonts? There are a bunch of adobe fonts for asian characters.

That’s a well-known issue with h.264 gamma shift in the Quicktime player. You’ve verified that the video is correct in AE and windows media player so the video is fine. If you have dual monitors, you can position the QT player so it’s partially in both monitors and sometimes the gamma shift goes away. It’s weird. Anyway, it’s just a quicktime problem. You can check google for more info, there’s plenty out there.

I did not know that, thanks for posting your solution. I agree they should include the underline function in AE and I don’t know why they haven’t so far.

A really easy way would be to use 3D stroke (or just plain stroke)and the bevel layer style. Here is a quick example project for you…

I think the first thing I would try would be to just render it out with really low quality compression settings, like set the quality to 1 and just make it as bad as you can. That would probably add more realistic blockiness and color distortion. You could even import the rendered video and render it out again with bad compression to further degrade it.
If you want to try to recreate it with effects you could try the mosaic effect, colorama and maybe minimax and just mess around with the settings until you get something you like. To break up the mosaic effect so it only appears in places you can duplicate your video layer, set the bottom copy’s track matte to “luma matte” and then apply mosaic to the top copy.
There are also some presets and plug-ins out there that create a “TV Noise” or “Bad Video” effect, just search google and you’ll probably find something useful.

Sure thing. I use those shortcuts all the time. Another way to selectively hide stuff you don’t want to see is to alt (option) + shift + click on the property.

Depending on your needs, you may also want to check out the 3D Extruder Script from aescripts. It’s somewhat limited but it’s only $35.

I don’t know why you would get that error with .jpg files if they are all RGB color mode. Could you post one of the images?
