I think that’s just the way it works and I don’t know of any way around it but maybe someone else will have a workaround or something. The only thing I can think of is to make a control layer with expression controls in your main comp and link the properties you want to animate in the pre-comp to that control layer.

There’s a script called “compsfromspreadsheet” on aescripts.com that does that. You just fill in the filenames and text, etc. on the spreadsheet and it replaces everything and creates new comps from your template comp. I’ve used it a few times and it works great, but you have to be careful about spelling, capitalization, etc. because it will stall on any errors.

There are quite a few mocha tutorials out there. They may not show this exact scenario but if you learn the basic techniques I’m sure you can piece it together. There are a few here on the Cow and also check out imagineer’s tutorials.

I’m not certain but it sounds like an Open GL preview thing. Try turning it off. It’s the little lightning bolt icon at the bottom of the comp window.

I’m also a bit lost but I think what you want is to use a blending mode on the texture layer so it “blends” with the video layer below it. Try the Multiply, Overlay, and Screen modes first. If that’s not what you had in mind then post more details about what you’re doing and we’ll try to help.

There are a lot of different camera moves in that video. Which one(s) are you asking about specifically? And what is the problem you are having in trying to replicate them?

Sure, I guess it’s like anything else, if you don’t use it you lose it.

It appears to be done with multiple text animators that are offset in time to give that cascading bounce effect. Check out some of the organic text animation presets in bridge and you can reverse engineer them to see how they work. Select your text layer and go to Animation>Browse presets>Text>Organic. You can preview them in bridge and then just double-click to apply to your text layer.

Here’s a tutorial that might help.
