If you are a wacom tablet user try mapping the more detail and less detail to the touch strip on the Intous 3 tablet. Feels very natural as you apply pressure.

    Shawn,

I would decompose offline captured media only with handles, if needed, at the uprezed resolution. Sounds like batch import files have lengthy file names that are being truncated in the decompose proccess. Which is possibly why the same file gets repeated in the sequence. If you need to know what files to import another way is to use the console command and the Dumpsourcesummary command. This will give you the full file name and original path. Then just batch import, should work just fine. Hope this helps.

    Earle,
You have a couple of issues going on. First it is my understanding that Avid does not support that 24p mode from Cannon. http://www.avid.com/resources/briefs/Canon_FactSheet.pdf. Second, taking it out of the HD-SDI out will only get you 1080i 59.94. So unless that 1800 deck can read the flags and output true 23.98 via HD-SDI, not sure about that model, you are out of luck. Have they already started the offline at 23.98? Another possible workflow is to cut at 29.97, Online at 1080i 59.94 then run it through a Terenax for the frame rate conversion. Not the prettiest but can get you there. How long is it? Another possible would be offline in Final Cut then Automatic duck it with media as an AAF and bring into the DS. I have not tried this last method myself but it should work.

    Good luck,

Do you mean the Digibeta 29.97 clip when placed on the 23,98 timeline with 3:2 removed is 6 frames longer than your omf imported sequence? If so the clip may appear to be longer but, if all works correctly, the picture and sound will be in sync and to the correct duration with just extra black and silence in the converted clip.

    Hope that makes sense.

Output to Digital Betacam, 3:2 pulldown is added. In the DS open new NTSC sequence. Capture DigiBeta output. Now Open 1080p 23.98 sequence. Drag the entire Digibeta 29.97 clip, holding the F key, to the 23.98 sequence, probably on an new video track. Now find a mixed field frame and apply 3:2 contract from the Time effects tool bar. This will need to be rendered. Proceed to split show.
