April 21, 2009 at 8:26 pm in reply to: Which Graphics Card for AE on Mac?

Are you saying if I have 2 x 2.66 dual xeons, and 10GB of ram, then a geforce 7300gt I should just completely turn off OpenGL?

I have multiprocessing turned on with 2.09GB minimum per cpu. Is that the ideal setting?

    thanks

that works when deleting, but what about other things making the rest of the timeline slide like changing the speed of a clip? I CANNOT make the timeline stop sliding when I adjust the speed of a clip at the front.. it’s making me pretty mad.
got a simple button for that one?

February 9, 2008 at 7:09 pm in reply to: Wanting to setup SAN network for church production

Wow, Bernard, thanks for jumping in to help. I had asked this question and then we got extremely busy. I somehow completely missed your reply to my question until I was thinking about SANs again today and wanted to read the cow for some tips… Anyway, thanks!
    Now, the answers…
Right now, we primarily edit DV and uncompressed SD. We have cameras for and will eventually edit DVCProHD.
Most of the editing we do uses FCPs multicam sequencing, so we’re pulling multiple feeds. At least to this point, we never have more than 4 cameras per sequence.
That also answers the next question, we use FCP.
If we drop a few frames.. eh, who will notice?
5 – um, define reasonable. reasonable to a tv exec could be 200k+. reasonable to a small church would be 5k. reasonable to us.. maybe 60k for the whole package. we could definitely afford to go higher if we can communicate the need.

the most important thing to us is that the san would split up rendering from fcp, everyone can evenly use the storage, and as a plus, the computers connected could help render AE files. is that too much to ask?

Thanks again. I look forward to some changes in the way we work here!

I don’t know what caused it in the first place, but I decided to restart my mac, and look at that.. it works again. That better not happen again, thats for sure.

  • I am looking for the same solution, and i think i have found one. The Fostex MR-8HD – 8-Track Desktop Digital Workstation Recorder with 40GB Internal Hard Drive is what i think i will be getting. It records 4 tracks simultaneously, so you can get the audio you need.
here it is on b and h.

if anyone has any input on this mixer, recorder, i too would love to hear it; since i am pretty sure i will be buying it in a few weeks.
