Thnx Ann but your reply is not entirely true. There are many different cameras that record to .mts that AE does not import or imports incorrectly, no audio etc. I just received some .mts footage that AE will NOT open but PPro does. So…YMMV as always.

Even PPro CS6 has some major issues with .mts but seems to be more reliable, at least to me, for the most part.

So anyway, thank you for your input.

I just missed the few I saw on Craigslist. The sooner 4K cameras get here the quicker I can nab a decent 1080p camera. C’mon 4k!

Unbelievable prices are prices that are so low that you do not believe they are truly selling at that price = unbelievable prices.

    Or…

Between $1600-2200 depending on included kit.

  • Just setup the two internals as a raid 0.

4 drives, Raid 0 in my i7 “Mac” running flawlessly for over a year. I have an external 4 Drive Raid 0 as well and another 2 disc Raid 1 for project backup. Never had a problem and “I loves me my speed” on the internal raid. I actually have 6 drives in the machine. A “cache” drive(that’s where you should be using the SDD), a “project raid” 4 3TB drives in raid 0, a Mountain Lion install partitioned with a “backup” ML lion just in case an update goes wrong(used SuperDuper to create the backup partition).

Try removing third party plugins. These could easily be causing an Adobe shutdown hang.

  • One more reply then I’ll quit.
Try a Raid 0 for your two internals and then just back up your projects to the raid 5 or get another drive internally to back up to. You can use SuperDuper or equivalent program to automatically back up only NEW files to another disc, keeping file structure intact. Actually why not just blast 4 HDD’s in the box for a screaming raid 0? It’s so cheap, why not? That raid 1 is doing you no favors at all, because it’s only a two disc raid 1, it is actually slower than a single drive. A single drive will do what, 60MB sec? Now you are trying to write to one drive while it is concurrently trying to back itself up to it’s Siamese twin? Download the AJA system test and check on your read write speeds.

Get an NVidia card! Why on earth would you spec an Adobe system without NVidia for graphics is beyond me…really.

  • That info really does not tell anything. It shows what YOU told the computer to look like for OSX. The actual hardware would be in the bios.

You can try changing the Model ID to an iMac, sometimes that lets OSX have better access to updated “drivers”. MacPro is an old Machine ID and does not have USB3 or any of the other new technologies.

Running an internal Raid 1 on a hack. That might be the problem right there. But maybe not. External Raid 5, maybe the card is not behaving? Why not take this discussion to a site that deals with Hacks specifically?

Also, 10.8 Mountain Lion has direct support for i7 chips, USB3 etc…just sayin’. You would need to do a new vanilla install.

  • Maybe “Hacks” are not for you this time around. They require a diligent setup, then they work flawlessly. What exactly is the Hack setup? Motherboard, chipset, bios version….just get a “real” Mac.

Go to Tonymac and do some research, you can probably fix it.

  • Why don’t you first remove the “overclock” on the i7 and get back to us?

Do a “match frame” on the clips in the timeline(check the help file for info on doing a match frame, super useful). That will open the timeline clips with in and out points in the source window. Just drag the clip back to the timeline with audio.

    Project/Project Settings

Try with Open CL on and off.
    You may be surprised.
