Check the input settings on your recorder. Make sure they are set for mic level input and there is no attenuation set in the input circuit. If you’re using the internal mic battery for power be sure to turn off any phantom power settings.

You seem to have only two solutions to your problem. 1. Move the mic closer to the person talking or 2, have the people speak louder. I think the first choice will work better in your case.

No it’s not self powered meaning it does not have an internal battery. The NTG 4 requires 48v phantom to be active. RTFM.

There is a battery powered 48v phantom unit from PSC or Professional Sound Corporation the works very well on two 9v batteries.

That buzzing sound is caused by something sending out a signal that’s being picked up by your receiver. No telling where it’s coming from.

There are 3 components to a wireless system, the microphone, the transmitter & the receiver. Assuming you’re not talking about the microphones causing the scratching sound, it would seem to be an interference or RF issue on the VHF band you’re on. Not much you can do about that other than try a new location and see if the issue follows where ever you go.

Aside from taking the 1/8″trs unbalanced output from your computer and connecting it to a preamp that has a balanced output that feeds your speakers, there is no practical alternative. There is no issue with connecting the speakers directly to the comp’s 3.5mm TRS output, just be sure you unbalance the connecting cable end going to the speaker input. If it’s an XLR connector connect the ground to pins 1 & 3 with the positive going to pin 2.
