A third of the size?? That doesn’t seem right. ProRes’ bitrate settings are set by Apple, it should be coming out around the same size unless you’re down-scaling or changing frame rate.

Hopefully someone else can either corroborate or explain why there would be such a discrepancy in the file size.

Hi Bruce, I’m not sure if Avid works with them or not, sorry. The new version of premiere does.

Hey Eric, not sure if you have Compressor 4 or 3.5.3, but you could try setting up a cluster to export multiple files at the same time. You have to uncheck Allow Job Segmenting in Compressor 3, as seen in this video:

Hey Bruce, the files are MTS files correct? FCP is not able to rewrap or transcode these files. You’ll have to use a program like ClipWrap to do that: https://www.divergentmedia.com/clipwrap

ClipWrap is able to do either job: rewrap or transcode to ProRes.

It looks possible in Compressor 3.5.3 and MPEG Streamclip, but I don’t see a place to change the Audio Sample size either. I would assume it would be 16 bits per channel. I do not see the option for MPEG-4 audio in Adobe Media Encoder. Just seems odd to have to use antiquated software to make the files.

And if you do take it into Compressor, in the Frame Controls tab, turn Resize filter to Best.
