Do a rough cut with 720p proxie.
Do your zoom edits on that.
Then replace with 4K files later.
Keep the names intact.
Ive doing the same with an inherited RED project.
The proxies are HD and manageable (over 1100 clips).
I did all the pan/scan in Resolve using the original RED files,then brought back to Premiere.

I have the same issue with an inherited Premiere project exported to FCP XML.
The R3D file exists and its also in the Media Pool.
But its persistent in the XML that is missing.
You see the error at import (used Proxies in PPr, imported without extension) and cant seem to figure out why it hates this one particular RED clip.

I do believe that’s the old Gamma issue with QuickTime.

I thought that was fixed a long time ago?

I’ve had stellar workflow mainly with RED 4K DCI formats.
Mostly shot with my Scarlet and some with EPIC/DRAGON.
2 features a slew of shorts/music videos on a Mac Pro 2012 w/ROCKET card and now a nMP (no ROCKET required).
I am using both 10.4 on the Mac Pro and latest in nMP.
Combinations of SAS cards, Decklinks and GTECH drives helps with my workflow.
I do get the same results with Avid, Pro Tools, Premiere and sometimes Resolve.
In the end I love FCPX and RED files.
Way less tinkering when moving projects around.
I have to deal with numerous Directors that edit their own masterpiece.

I hope one day they fix their website login.

Ive had to login every instance and click on the link to my account crap.

Its been a few years and still have to do that.

I was told years ago that 5000 files is the limit.

I try to keep this reasonable but there are times I forget to check.

Currently its been haunting me due to this feature project with RED files.
Now Im finding new bugs where clips are missing audio in the timeline but they exist in the original clip.
I love inheriting projects 😛

I would love to start one if only I can get past Premieres inability to select more than one clip in the Link Media window.
Ive posted this question in every possible forum e.g. REDUSER, Adobe, CreativeCow, etc…
Still no answer.

I am stuck on one idiotic problem with using RED files and Premiere.

Trying to force relink RED files after OFFLINING proxies is a nightmare.

You cant select more than one file in the Find Media window.

That is ridiculous!

Its smooth as butter in FCPX 😛

Is that strictly for video playback?
