No! You never want to deinterlace since DVD is natively an interlaced format. Deinterlacing wipes away half your temporal info.

For what it’s worth DVDSP will always be around so I wouldn’t advise anyone to switch to Encore just because Apples dropped support for FCP

The start of the track counts as a chapter too. See if you were to put 16 chapter markers it creates 17 sections

If this obviously progressive video why not just confirm your 25 to 23.98? This is easily done in Cinema Tools. From there you would author a NTSC “23.98” disc and it will play worldwide

You’re over thinking all this. First throw Encore in the Trash (even for blu ray). 🙂 Author in DVDSP and build you’re DDP to your HDD. Like i said Before,Change the DAT file to “.img” and QC that
They disable those functions because they are premastering tools and everybody would be using the demo and not buying it.
It all doesnt really matter because a replicator is going to take all this and reconstruct it onto a master disc from which they will physically press your copies. Thats why I said get check discs.
I can understand you wanting to know its good before you deliver to a replicator but the only way to verify and image is to run it through and Eclipse and receive Check discs.

The only way to know is to extract the image from the DLT with Eclipse. Ive never used Encore myself much less write DLTs with it. Ive always used AfterEdit for this.
Both Gear and AfterEdit do have demos but I believe they have disabled this feature for obvious reasons.
BTW….you dont have to deliver DLTs anmore…your image folder on a pen drive does just fine.

Never used DVDSP to write an image from DLT….I think I remember hearing that as well. I dont think Encore does I’ve always used AfterEdit or Gear to do stuff like this.
You really should get check discs….I’ve seen 10s of Thousands of dollars lost and court cases filed because someone decided to save a couple hundred bucks. 🙂

The only correct way to verify a DDP image before replication is to run it through an Eclipse verifier beforehand. Any good replicator does this (or should ) anyway to make sure what you are delivering is correct.
DVD is so mature now and Replicator are so experienced , youre likely not to have an Issue. In other words…relax and make sure you get check disc before the final run 🙂
There are tools like Gear and After Edit which will convert a DDP to a TS or IMG file.
Also, if it makes you feel warm and fuzzy ….add “.img” to the end of the DAT file in your DDP image and QC that. That’s your title
