Thats a good question…. a good encoder will crop 3 lines from top and bottom. But some may just squish the image. Your best work flow is to crop it yourself.

If your source is lower field…yes. What kind of source are you dealing with? Its interlaced….yes?

DVD is an interlaced format which is 720×480 only (NTSC)
Did you match the field order in the encoder? You will see interlacing since that’s what you are dealing with

This is fairly common error for DDPs delivered on writable media. Can you deliver on a pen drive or DLT?

Jeff is correct….its being transcoded to 25i since DVD does not support 25p. You need to make an NTSC disc (23.98) – it will play on any PAL player just fine. Either that or convert to 25i (50i) using a good conversion method and make a PAL disc.
Are you viewing on an interlaced monitor?

Technically it’s possible because button highlights are simply subtitle so it’s possible to author in button that appear to move but not with Encore. This is only possibly on high end authoring tools like Scenarist

No ….all went away since there were so many incompatibility issues
Your second option is the way to go for sure
