DVD only supports 720×480 (NTSC). Crop off those 8 lines and re-encode

Nope…without timecodes, how would the authoring app know where to put the subtitles.

Bitvice is is software only encoder and the encode times are really long! Optibase sure – better at lower rates and realtime – there is no real comparison there

Your touching on the future of DVD distribution. Major Porn companies are using BitTorrent technology to distribute TS folders over the internet, ready to burn onto DVD.

A studio is also considering the same thing but you have to use thier DVD player and it will only work on a computer 🙁

The technology use several servers to distribute 1 large file in smaller chunks so a multi-Gig file can be downloaded in minutes not hours.

    Check out:

Both are great encoders. Are you going to be using Scenarist? if so I would get the 1000

Did you use Compressor or just drop a QT into DVDSP? Use Compressor, its much better than Quicktime for encoding MPEG2. To find your bitrates go into preferences and check under encoding. You can use other encoders which I believe are much better (Bitvice, Procoder (PC) )

For a 78 min project you could get away with 6.3 MB/s at CBR or do a bit budget with this:

Always use AC3 audio as well
