Yep…thats the best way. When you end the menu or track the laser needs to refocus so no way to avoid that.

What were your bitrate settings? Did Encore transcode the clip? Both Encore and Compressor aren’t exactly great encoders so you might be expecting too much 🙂 One things for sure….dont expect quality like discs you see on stores shelves.

Also – make sure your source’s field order match the settings in Compressor. I think this “shaking” might be a field order issue for you. Do a ggogle on encoders for DVD – there are tons. Bitvice is a good one on the mac

Have you tried inserting a marker from your FCP timeline? This will insert I frames at that location and might help. BTW….Compressor is a fairly poor encoder IMO so it won’t preform miracles for you. You might want to look at other third party tools which will almost surely help in this situation. Hard to say though without looking at the source footage.

Thanks Chris….Thats right! Which leads to the next question: Where is that tool? Is Apple going to spend the time and money to develop it? No way! It won’t sell anymore FCP suites, so whats the point from a business perspective.

Optibase as a hardware encoder for the Mac. You’re fairly limited here. But why use a mac? PCs are cheap and you still have to purchase the encoder.

Sorry man….Is there a question in there somewhere? LOL. DVD has a limited bitrate of around 9.8. mb/s. You can author a Blu ray disc in tools like Encore, DVDit Pro, Do Studio and write it to a regular DVD which should playback fine in some BD players.

Encore, DVD Studio Pro on the mac.
Scenarist is another story but dvd architect, dvd-lab pro 2 encore, and DVD Studio Pro are fairly easy to learn and use. There’s no “easy” button – You’ll need to do a little work 🙂

Which title are you talking about? There’s no player in world that supports this feature….unless Im missing something in what you’re trying to describe? The DVD spec does not support it. Once you eject a disc, the player spec mandate to default all registers.
