  • Hello Tom,

Thanks for the reply. Your comment makes sense. I guess my
real issue is that when I create a quicktime movie, and add it to iDVD
it plays as a 4:3 instead of 16:9. I used a 16:9 iDvd menu and template.

I use iDVD here since I can create a test DVD easily.
I have used both “export” a quicktime movie (current settings, etc)
and a Quicktime conversion, where I was setting the size in the custom option.

iDVD would play the movie from the dvd in 4:3.
I will try the QT conversion and custom sizing and see how that works.

My size need to be the values you show (853×480) instead of 865!

    Thanks,

    Eric

    Hello Again,

Thanks are not enough. The podcasts are really helpful.
Also, as a form of “support” I did buy the Adobe CS4 book
    Richard Harrington has put together.

    Thanks,

    Eric

    Hello Shane,

Thanks for the reply! Sorry I am so late in responding. This forum is too good to miss. I did not shoot in the 24PA mode, but in the 24p mode (just like my HV20). Now I have learned something about L&T that I did not know before, complements of your sentence where you mention that 24PA gets its pulldown removed.

    Thanks Again,

    Eric

    Hello Shane,

Shoot! I was afraid of that (a laptop that is). Good move on keeping the old laptop.
I have a friend that has an old one, maybe I can get him to “loan” it.
Certainly, due the price of the other equipment, firewire and my HVX win that one.

    Thanks for helpful tutorials,

    Eric

  • Hello John and Malinda,

John, you are 100% correct about the HVX200 recording ONLY DV to tape.
All HD of whatever format is recorded only to the P2 card or an external FireStor drive, etc. HD 720p footage can be down converted to the miniDV tape if desired, and will preserve different frame rates, etc. but it will be only DV in the standard format.

December 19, 2008 at 4:49 pm in reply to: FCP Log and Transferring Incorrect Format?

    Hello,

I have the same issue, except that I do NOT want interlacing, and the remove pull-down checkbox is checked. Any ideas? My footage was shot at HVX200, 1080 24p. As soon as I import a clip (which shows no interlacing in the L&T viewer) and play it in the browser viewer, it show severe interlacing. My “Easy Setup” settings are HDV 1080 60i, are my “Easy Settings” inappropriate for this?

    Thanks,

    Eric

    Attention Shane!
I just watched your handy tutorial on FCP “Log and Transfer” for P2 cards. It was helpful to say the least. But I would like to know how you connect your P2 card(s) to the MAC. (hopefully not a laptop).
I have a Mac Pro, not a laptop, and would like to avoid connecting the camera to access the P2 clips. I did notice you had some sort of P2 icon on your screen.

    Hello David,

Thanks. What you say makes sense. I will give it a shot.
I must say, that Motion program is amazing, I have watched a few tutorials, etc, and its capabilities are amazing!

    Eric.
