Hey Tom
i’m running into this issue also. is there a fix? i have a big P2 project coming up with a few Varicams recording AVC-Intra. I’m now thinking I’m gonna have to transcode outside of Adobe to even use the footage. thoughts?

if you’re getting speeds like that for your internal RAID, i assume you’re running a RAID-0. just make sure you’re backing it up somewhere as one drive failure means you lose all the data on the RAID.

so i guess my next question is, how do you handle adding more RAIDs in a 10Gb environment using something like the Titanium? i know you can add an expansion RAID or 2 to the Titanium, but at some point, you will max it out and need a new host system. So if you’re adding a new host system, and you need it to connect to the same clients as the first host system, are you now at the point where you need a 10Gb switch?

you can’t run those 2 cards together on internal power. The 570 has two 6 pin connectors and the Q4000 has one. The Mac Pro only has two 6 pin connections on the motherboard. I would not recommend splitting the power to run these 2 cards. You will need additional power such as this:

One thing that concerned me initially was running LTO tape writes directly off SAN volumes. but BRU PE does a verification pass, so I’m a little less stressed. but not much.

regarding power, are your computers relatively power-light otherwise? do you have spinning hard drives running in the tower or are your bays empty?

according to this test on Barefeats.com, the 570 and 580 hold an edge over the 680 in simple Resolve 9 tests:

I thought it wouldn’t work, but I took a look at nVidia’s site and it has lower power consumption than the 570.

GTX 580 – 244w – https://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-580/specificationsso it looks like it will work, but you might need 6 pin to 8 pin adapters.
i may be wrong, but I believe that the change in architecture between the 5 series and 6 series has meant that the 6 are not as much of a speed bump as people were expecting for Resolve. someone want to chime in? Juan?
