I can’t respond to anything except the MXO. I purchased the MXO when it first came out. At that time, I must have purchased one of the first ones off the line which is usually not the greatest idea. As far as support is concerned, the only time I ever needed it was when the MXO first came out and they responded instantly. The MXO is so solid now that I haven’t needed support. I guess that’s a good thing.

I just did a very simular thing. I exported my AVCHD footage QT using DVCPRO HD setting. I then imported them back into my browser and onto the sequence in order to use a multiclip of AVCHD and DVCPRO HD clips and it worked.

Thanks Jerry for your help.

What I ended up doing was to start off with DVCPRO HD as my sequence settings. I then captured the AVCHD footage, dropped it onto the timeline, rendered it then exported it out QT as DVCPRO HD and then imported it back into my browser.

When I set in and out points on both clips and made it into a multiclip, it worked great.

Hi Jerry:
Thanks for the very quick response. I just want to be clear on this. Are you saying that I should capture the AVCHD footage directly to DVCPROHD, or that I should capture the AVCHD footage into FCP and then export that footage to DVCPRO?

Hi Bob:

My friend Mitch Ives showed me some very interesting stats regarding the difference in speed betweek the Quad and the 8 core. In most of the things that I’m doing, I really don’t see that much of a difference, especially for that much extra money. The quad at 2.66GHz along with the ATI Radeon X1900 XT and 8 gb memory looks like the ideal machine for the money, expeccially if you just purchase your ram and hd’s on your own.

Thank you so much for the help on the workflow Bob. Looks like I really have no choice now but to purchase the new Quad. I’m staying away from the 8 core for now.

Hi Bob:

I purchased the SD-1 for the same reasons that you did. I also have two HVX200’s and my plan is to use the SD-1 as a backup camera in both the HD and SD modes to my 200’s. I’ve already shot some incrediable footage in Maui in May that totally blows me away.

My inital plan when I purchased it, knowing that FCP didnt’ support the AVCHD files was to purchase Black Magic Designs “Intensity, or Intensity Pro” until I realized that they don’t support PCIx or even PCI express in the G5.

I have a G5, & a G4 laptop. I’ve tried to capture the files with FCP6.01 and for some reason haven’t been able to do it. It keeps saying that the files are not supported. I used Log and Tranfer.

Am I just doing something wrong, or will it only work on an intel based computer?

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
