You can’t. But, say it’s an interview: would you rather mask out one semi-static interviewee, or the multiple moving people in the background?

Either way, he’s looking at a lot of work.

I’m reading your post again…if she’s facing the camera, how do we read the word coming from her mouth?

Imagine someone breathing on window, the camera facing the window and their face.

Like that. Like she’s blowing a smoke ring.

It would be FAR easier to preserve the foreground and just blur EVERYTHING. Pretend you’re shooting w/70mm film and have very limited DOF.

And, if you are hazy (har!) on what DOF is, hit the books.

If it’s not too complicated (or long), why not just do it Olde School?: pencil and paper, or ImageReady?

This is best if YOU are the client: revisions in traditional animation will kill you unless you have an iron-clad contract.

Thanks everybody.

Essentially, I’m making a ‘snowflake’.

Getting the rhythm of pressing the ALT >>after<< starting the dragging was essential (it's the little damn things....). I got it covered now, but: Is there any way to accomplish this via numeric keyboard entry? Trying to hit 60 degrees perfectly is rather fiddly with the mouse. I'm used to 3d apps where you could just ENTER a rotation value and be done with it. (Illustrator CS1) ++++++++++++++++ "Putting the HARM in 'harmonica' since 2005." ++++++++++++++++

Nah, something simpler, just rotating+duplicating.

Like a clone function. “Clone 5 times while rotating 60 degrees each time.”
