    Ok
    It finally clicked!
    Thanks

Not the same quality, but ‘similar’ to shooting an HD image of a good projection of an old 8mm film reel.

Some really good responses, thanks… Still not positive how the tech specs of the 35mm adapters actually works out since chips size is the same, but overall im starting to get a better idea.

My confusion is aroused at the fact that(i could be wrong) both types of adapters are being shot through the HVX’s fixed lens… The Brevis/RedRock/Letus adapters dont bypass the HVX fixed lens, do they?

Cool post… Way off my question since i already know that stuff, but cool post.

Now back to the issue… DoF with Century adapters vs Letus/Red Rock micro?

28 days later was not even shot with a 24p mode… It was actually partially shot on an XL 1.

This only changes so much in my outlook… I mean when all is said and done(with lenses and accessories) you’ve spent as much as you would buying an HVX… HVX also is great for audio and comes with a 16gb card now.

The DSLR for HD video is a good idea and concept, but popular features have been done with way less(XL1). I feel that if you know your equipment you can have beautiful results with whatever you have.

another trick to try would be to force render the part by adding a slug over where the issue is with a 0% opacity and rendering again. Also, make sure to Sequence>Render All>Both and then AFTER THAT go do a Sequence>Render Only>Full(under video)

The render full has cleared up some DVCProHD quirks for me with hvx time lapse and things before.

I mean it’s obviously not necessary to always have the original p2 files(mxf and all folders), but it’s also not necessary to have tapes. They’re just good backup. The issue that sucks is that if someone else is giving you the files, then you have no control on the capture or recapture, as in this case, so it’ll be hard to know if thats the problem.

Is all of your media connected to 1 drive or multiple. If not 1 i would recommend consolidating it all. more than 80% of my wierd final cut quirks have happened by connecting 1 sequence to more than 1 drive.

Try exporting a movie of the clip that’s skipping, but only like the tail end that will dissolve. And then put it in place and try the dissolve again to see if it will bandaid the problem.
