The PC laptops with Thunderbolt are still limited that I have seen.

No the latest Quadro drivers work fine. There is no reason to use older drivers unless you have to. Remember the memory management can change for CUDA based on what driver version that is used.

What GPU you running and what video driver? Switch to Software MPE mode and delete the previews. Switch back to Hardware and delete them again. Does that change the performance?

Go under Edit and then preferences. Look for the Playback option. Select the Blackmagic playback. Then try the Source or Program preview.

What is the model of the laptop you have? What is the resolution you are running on the laptop screen. Do you have the MPE on hardware or software. Did you turn your system restore points off or do you mean system backup?

If you contracted the virus in the last couple of days then then you need try a system restore point before then. Go into system restore in windows and select show more restore points. Look for a restore point that is within a week of today. Try that and see if that Win 7 image is clean.
